Hi Friends

I am having the troubles with my car again... It started a day b4 yester day and yesterday it was fine the whole day.
It happens that I took a short drive may be 2kms after that when I start my car it just light on the dash but keep quiet and when I start with push it is fine.
It just hapen after some times it comes back.
Today its doing it again, what could be the problem?

need more information.

when you try start with the key what does it do? does it try turn over? making a funny sound etc?

what lights on dash light up?

is this genuine events that guys need help with or just a ploy to show roux that opels are bad :D

cos i see a trend of opels all breaking

All the lights on dash comes on, Bettry, Engine, brake lights but it does not make any sound, the engine does not crank

Anybody with Opel problems should PM Rouxenator for assistance.

Its just the battery or the alternator not charging the battery. Simple fix

Well, if it was the battery, at least you should hear the starter solenoid come on with a click, and then the lights go dark.
If that is the case, replace the battery.
If you do not hear the click, it is propably the starter solenoid that is faulty or a fuse blown somewhere.
If you hear the click and the lights do not go dim and the starter does not turn, it could propably be worn brushes on the starter motor itself.

99% sure its the battery - My Astra has been through 2 batteries in the 7 years that I had it - did the exact same thing.
You might find the needless going all haywire at when you try to start it. Saw the same thing in a 2001 A4 1.9Tdi once.

Had the same problem with a Cub I had eons ago. Solenoid.

Just put the car in to second gear (easier than first for the next action :) ) and rock it forward and backward a bit.

Even with a battery on it's way out you should still hear a solenoid clicking.

Depends on how bad the battery is. The first one did make the solenoid click and also had the dials go crazy, second one was so bad nothing ticked or clicked.

/begin thread necro

Bumped into this thread while googling so might as well post seeing as it's related to topic.

So to kick it off, earlier today I noticed my car is now taking a little longer to start ( 2/3 swings ). Usually, and also this morning, it takes just one swing to start. In addition to the apparent starting problem that has come to my attention, I have also noticed that all sounds on my instrument cluster are slightly delayed, for example: If I indicate, the light will flick once and only then the sound follows ( it also seems that the light and sound struggle to stay in sync )... the delay follows through to end as well where the indicator would have already disengaged but the sound will stay on for another second or two and stop.

Any ideas what could be causing this? I will be taking it to GM on Monday if it persists but would like to try give them possible causing to avoid any delays in them having to do diagnostics. Would it be battery related as per above, although I would thing the battery light would come on if there was an issue with it.

Car is a 2011 Astra 1.6T

I would disconnect the battery for 5 or 10 minutes, then reattach it to reset the computer. This sometimes fixes weird electrical issues.
