Hi guys!

I found this site and it looks pretty awesome let's see if someone can help me with this problem.

My Opel Corsa Lite started this morning and I switched it off before it warmed up (to open the boot). I tried starting it again and the engin cranked but it didn't take. It just won't start. My fuel consumption also drastically increased (from 12km/l to about 5.7km/l ) definitely more than a student can afford.

Anyways I know it could be one of two things. Either the sparkplugs ( as in not sparking correctly or it's a faulty crankshaft sensor) or no fuel is getting to the engin ( as in the petrol pump is faulty or the fuel relay is blown).

I'd like to know all variables before I take it in because it's less likely that I'll get screwed over. My guess it's the fuel side of the problem (because of it's high fuel consumption since it had problems starting). Any advice will do!

Thanks

My Corsa Lite Sport became ultra heavy on fuel as well, checked all the vacuum pipes and found that the one for the A/C advance had a tear in it, replaced the pipe and all was sorted.

I assume it is a Corsa Lite? What mileage does it currently have on? How many puddles of liquid does it leave behind when parked for more than an hour?

Yes she's a Corsa Lite. She leaves no puddles at all. And is currently on 165 000 km.

Cool I'll check again. I did check the pipes and they are old but with no tears. (I might also add that mine doesn't have an A/C)

My wife's corsa is on its third coilpack in 80K Km, symptoms include misfiring, suddenly losing power, being underpowered, failing to start, backfiring. It gets progrssively worse till it fails to start sometimes. (and bad consumption)
1st Test for spark...

Smell exhaust for fuel.
From what you describe I would also start by checking the fuel pump, might be a leak or gasket not sealing anymore

Hi guys I need some help regarding my 2005 opel corsa 1.6is. I'm currently experiencing starting problems with my car. Doesn't matter if cold or warm when he feels like it he doesn't start. The engine cranks but engine light goes on but hickups during starting process accompanied by backfires at the exhaust with smell of fuel and also the odd backfire in the engine bay almost sounds like at the air box. When car starts I have no further problems and car runs fine. It gets worse now to where I almost sit for 5min to get car started. Car get serviced every 10k km by myself and I replace everything all the filters and plugs and oil. Plz and help or ideas will be grately appreciated. Thanks alot

hi guys, has anyone managed to solve this issue for their beloved opel corsa's yet? ive got the same issue with mine now and have tried new battery, new spark plug etc... and no luck

Hi,
Sorry for just jumping in like this.

For the last two days I'm having problems with my Corsa Lite 1.4 hatch.
Sometimes it starts and sometimes it does not even crank.
I'm sure it's not the battery (Willard and fairly new) also charged overnight
with smart charger.
The weird thing is after trying a couple of times it just starts?
I suspect a wiring problem.
Right now it's dead again, but going to see if it starts after a couple of tries.

nothing again, but strange thing now is a noise coming from, I suspect the starter motor AFTER I switched off and key out?

You suspect wrong.

Your description sounds like a failing starter motor.

Sticking stator and or solenoid. Remove starter motor and get it rewired. Or pick up an exchange one. Or a new one from Goldwagen.
