Opel S.A. No part Available

It is with a sad heart that I need to write this but I have always been an avid Opel fan, in fact my last 4 cars have been Opels. My Opel Astra broke down last week Wednesday late while traveling back from the airport, after doing diagnostics they determined that the Alternator was not working. My vehicle was towed to the dealership to have it repaired. After being there for almost a week I was advised that the new alternator will take 3 Months to source as there are no parts in South Africa. The Opel Franchise can only do what they can and have offered a courtesy car and for that I have grateful but now I have to pay monthly for something that I do have. How can there be no parts in South Africa and how can it take 3 months to get a new part? At the end of the day you have all these corporate giants selling off brands to save profit and at the end of the day the person who own an Opel needs to take the brunt.

WOrst case scenario is that they void the warranty on your alternator, they cant void your warranty in total. Hoe many km's on the car?
 
You got a courtesy car...what's the problem?

You were going to pay for the car regardless. Now you are saving some mileage on it while driving someone else's car.

It's a win win really.
 
I had the same problem with just about every part from Honda - do yourself a favour and import it yourself, you'll get it quicker, and it'll cost less.

not really if the courtesy car has a 30K excess for accident or theft like most of them do.
 
Just recon the alternator yourself. Really easy to do. Who in their right mind still sends a car to the dealership for repears.

Typical lazy mechanics trying to milk a customer for extra money by just swapping out a part when all the neet to do is check the electrical conections and maybe replace a bearing and regulator.

Those stuff are intended to keep up the value of the car for resale purposes but don't offer anything. It is mostly a money making scam and to many people fell for it. I also have a service plan on my KIA and I literally tell them to do the bare minimum that would still allow them to stamp the book, I'm still looking for someone that would stamp the book without the 400% inflated price for 5l oil and a new oil filter.

Don't worry, they're just waiting for another customers car that matches your own. and then they'll have the spares from that one.

Oh Wait... They're using your car as spares for their previous customer that's been waiting 2 months.
