interesting article. no sliver bullets out there. Cloud is an architecture, while OpenSource is a tool used to enable it. different things entirely.

Open source = sux
Open source costs you MUCH more in the long run.
Everyone thinks "open source = free everything". NOT true ! !

Saying that open source suxx is a very bold statement.
Open source can definitely work as a viable and cheaper alternative to paid solutions. It just depends on who you have it implemented by and what support organization you have behind it. In general its just easier to fork out millions for a MS solution and get cheap engineers than to pay nothing for the Open Source solution and pay millions for support staff.
A skilled *NIX engineer costs way more than a MS engineer, but then again every Tom, Dick and Harry can pass a MS exam whereas *NIX skill is hard to find.
