These articles should focus more on freeware than purely opensource anyway. Very few users care about the difference.

Very true. Unfortunately when an article is technically incorrect, it propagates the misconception in the mind of the consumer.
 
So the article about Open Source Photo Management starts off with an app "Hugin is not really a photo management tool." and ends with one that isn't open source. Nice.
 
DigiKam ROCKS. Fantastic software, especially the automated batch uploading (with compression etc.) to Facebook et al.
