Has anyone been having increased issues with the OpenBrowse product, OpenRouter.

The proxy used to work 100% until MSN support was removed a while ago, which was explained, but now websites such as MySpace, Facebook, Gmail and anything that requires any form of information being SENT seems to time out.

For example, when on the Proxy, I can navigate to www.facebook.com fine but when I click login I get a blank white screen and thats it. Looking at the semi-detailed log from OpenRouter, it's clear that my request is being acknowledged but that's where it ends.

Here is the log:

Loading up www.facebook.com:

2007/08/20 15:26:10 [515 bytes received from Client 192.168.0.27]
2007/08/20 15:26:10 [Client 192.168.0.27 requests http://www.facebook.com/]
2007/08/20 15:26:12 [1440 bytes received from Remote 196.209.194.14, for Client 192.168.0.27]
2007/08/20 15:26:13 [1210 bytes received from Remote 196.209.194.14, for Client 192.168.0.27]

Clicking "Login":
2007/08/20 15:26:59 [203 bytes received from Client 192.168.0.27]
2007/08/20 15:26:59 [203 bytes received from Client 192.168.0.27]

And that's where it ends.

Please can OpenRouter be looked into, Openweb. I was ok with losing MSN but please don't take away the ability to log into websites, because as you can imagine that would suck =)

I have a similar issue.
Early in the month, browsing is fast and I access gmail without any hassles.
I find towards the middle and end of the month, my browsing speed slows down and it is impossible to get into gmail and other websites.
I sent many emails to Openweb support querying why this is the case and they always reply saying it is my firewall... 'we can assure you the OpenRouter application works 100%'
I decided the best option for me is to cancel the Openbrowse and rather have a seperate Local ISP and International ISP. I know it will be a hassle to change all the time, but it is still less annoying to me than the OpenRouter app.

I'm considering doing the same thing. Now I know it's not wise to look a gift-horse in the mouth but if this doesn't get fixed then unfortunately Openweb is turning into a "Corporation" instead of a "Public Service" if you catch my drift.
I must add tho that this could be a temporary problem so let's not jump to conclusions yet, the only fact here is that OpenBrowse is slowly deteriorating in quality, and it would be great if the tech's over at Openweb could fix this.
Ultimately guys, if the service gets worse we can move on to other products, whereas you will start to lose customers. Please get back to us on this issue as soon as you can, and please bring back MSN =D

P.S. Why is it, whenever techies think you're just the average "Computer Illiterate" person, they give you the age old "three" : Firewall, Spyware and Windows Update?

Hey Friends

We have had reports regarding OpenBrowse timeouts today, and are busy investigating the issue.

I can assure you that the problem started this morning, and logs show that the service was running perfectly for most of August.

We are currently in contact with our upstream providers, SAIX, to find the source of the problem.

I apologise for any inconvenience.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

For the last few months, i can never get into gmail using Openbrowse... and other websites also load at a snail's pace (much slower than my usual 384k connection).
When I purchased the OpenBrowse packaged i expected, at a minimum, atleast the ability to surf at a reasonable speed. But too often, websites are super slow, openbrowse application hangs, etc... and this becomes a big problem for me when i get phone calls throughtout the day from family members complaining the internet doesnt work. Hence I am now forced to switch to my Openweb web package during the night and switch back to Telkom during the day.
I already cancelled my openbrowse subscription earlier this month as I dont see the point of paying extra for a service that is never consistent.

I'm been hoping and waiting that this problem would be fixed but nothing has changed over the past 3-4 months.

I am sorry to say, but last week, I could not bear it anymore and phoned support. They said that Telkom had the problem and it was out of their control and it had started Tuesday last week.

I have found, like the rest of the people that browsing is extremely slow. It reminds me of the problem, which still unresolved, when open browse was incorrectly identifying international sites as local, thus the proxy was bypassed and the page took literally tens of minutes to load... if it did load at all.

Patrick

On the 1GB + 9GB + Openbrowse..... after my 9gb local has finished does this mean my webrowsing stops..? with the openbrowse proxy?

Well, I can see that openbrowse worked fantastic yesterday & this morning... It looks like they are now starting to throttle back as I'm now starting to experience incomplete pages every now and again.
:(
