Openserve to stop selling Telkom Diginet services

How about mybb asking Openserve some questions?

Are the new services available at the same price?

Will customers using Diginet have to incur additional costs once their Diginet services are terminated?

You should remember the flack when Diginet was launched ----- Has taken a while to get to EOL.
 
FIL has been installing telkom exchanges all over the show, says part of it is so that all diginet subscribers can be converted to fibre.

They moving towards Ethernet Express. And I assume it would be the same price point, they wont want to lose customers, especially in the current competitive enviroment

Might be an interesting exercise to try and match Diginet services with what could be considered as a replacement service.

i believe the first excuse was, 'the cards are expensive', then a while later something along the lines of, 'its top speed is only 2.3mbps so it would be outdated soon anyway.'

this was when they were using the Marconi AXH600
 
Diginet was and still is great for setting up secure point to point links between 2 sites over copper. If I remember correctly a lot of ATM's use diginet for their communications.

That was/is the claim to fame of Diginet as a service.
The technology allowed for dedicated PTP connections, permanently available. It was always considered to be a carrier class SDLS service, capable of working over ordinary subscriber copper networks. Guaranteed data rates, no congestion (connection is not over shared capacity). Variable data rates up to 1980 kb/s.

The top end was replaced/had an alternative with the Megaline services. ( 2.048 Mb/s and up)

Ideal for low data rate connections such as for ATM and POS terminals. Not all surprised at a decision not to introduce the higher SDSL services in the light of the move towards fibre based connections ( ME technologies).

Given that OpenServe are no longer interested in maintaining or extending copper based networks, they actually have no alternative than to terminate Diginet type services.

Kudos to them for giving the market early warning ......
 
No problem with this. Actually going to cancel our diginet lease before end of year as we have found a better alternative
