Hey there

I'm trying to connect use my 3G card (PCMCIA) using OpenSuSE 11.1 It detects the card perfectly and I can create the connection. I am using the folloing connection settings. Tried with IFUP and network manager

Dialing string : *99#
Username & Password : Vodacom
APN : Internet
Pin : Disabled

When checking /var/log/messages i get the following output :

modem-manager: (/dev/ttyUSB1) opening serial device
modem-manager: Closing serial device '/dev/ttyUSB1'

Any idea's or options? It works fine on ubuntu with same settings but I don't want to run it.

Thanks in advance.

Will try that. Seems weird though because it can contact the device but you never know so I will give it a try this evening and update the thread.

I have tried it with a 3G card with a pin code and I still get the same result. Any other suggestions?

Check the thread in the Vodacom Linux section, it worked fine for me on OpenSuse 11.0 and the Gnome Network Manager and I did not need the pin code.

I removed OpenSuSE because I'm busy testing SLED 11. While testing I decided to give the 3G card a bash (No pun intended). Stuck it in, clicked connect and it worked. Not a single config/setting done. I think I'll be sticking with SLED 11 for the meantime. Thanks for the help.
