I want to install Openview HD for my parents. I am aware the decoders cost is R399 and i contacted an installer, they charge R1100 for full instalation which we require as we have no satelite dish at all.
So in total this would cost me R1500 basically.

I saw this advertisment in the game paper, for a starsat decoder and satelite dish and installation for R399 .

My question is can i purchase the starsat bundle and then have the installer install it, then instead of connecting the starsat decoder i connect the open view decoder and save myself a R1100 . Will the installer align the starsat dish to the dstv signal as i understand that is what OVHD also uses now?

I'm sure there is some sort of fixed term contractual agreement with the free* dish and installation.

I had a TopTV (StarSat) installation, then moved to OVHD by plugging in the OVHD decoder and rotating the LNB (at the dish) about 45 degrees... and it worked no problem ;)

I'm not sure if there's a minimum term for the StarSat deal as I moved to OVHD after about a year

Did this work?

I bought a top-tv decoder about 3 years ago as it came with free installation. I did the same thing with DSTV a year later. When I bought my OVHD decoder, all I did was plugged in the Top-TV dish cable and it worked without any issues. I haven't tried it with the DSTV dish cable as I haven't had any issues yet... been using it for almost 2 years now I think. There were no contracts or obligations when I took the free dish and free installation as I could have cancelled immediately or not even activated it.

If I had no dish, I would have done what the guy did above... buy a dstv or starsat decoder with free installation.
