I know there was a thread for this already but i cant seem to find it again. So I'm asking what is the difference between the 1MB gold (R 398) and gold plus ( R 449).
For around R50 , there must be some difference.

I think I read someone posting that the normal 1MB gold speed will vary from 512-1024, whilst the gold plus will reach 1024 most of the time. Fact or fiction?
Anyone commenting with some experience on this will be much appreciated

gold plus is a contention lower ratio, so you will get higher speeds though the day etc, i think best to use it on 4mb line, might be chance on the gold plus that you can spike your
downloads past the 1 meg limit.

hope there is someone with 1meg gold plus that can try it on 4meg line :p

A 4 meg line is expensive when your only getting 1mbps speeds.

@hereticangel So if I understand you correctly, with a 1Mbps line and 1MB uncapped gold then you would be using it to its full potential.
Then the only benefit from getting the 1MB gold plus would be if you have a 4MB line?

That makes no sense to me. The only reason why a 1 Mbps account on a 4 Mbps line would be faster is because there is no longer the issue of TCP overheads on a 1 Mbps line. Gold or gold plus - it won't make a difference - they will both run at 128 KBps on a 4 Mbps line, whereas they run at ~100-105 KBps on a 1 Mbps line..

The main difference is a lower contention ratio.

The PLUS will have less shaping and generally better performance.

R50 for "better performance" ? I can understand lower contention ratio = more money. But like Mike said even a 4MB line on 1MB gold plus should give you the same speed as the normal 1MB gold.
