This is an Openweb Gold account that I'm paying a premium for. I'm definitely not supposed to be shaped to 1/5th of my line speed, after hours when the account is supposedly unshaped.

And it's definitely shaping, because Steam is downloading at 100% speed. It's just p2p that's being shaped into the ground.

Perhaps its make believe? Amazing how fast that OW business accounts appeared hinging on axxess, AH and WA's business accounts and the uptake thereof.

******only have 94 of these accounts left.

Try tunnelling your P2P download through SSL :P Watch it go full speed then :D
I used to do that with MWEB. It irritated them :D

Classic Gold 2mg running HTTP download at 50KB/s @7.55pm :wtf:

I think it is actually a classic "fools" gold though , all shiny and nice on the surface for a few days and then the impurities begin showing up.

Same shyte on my side. After 20:00 and struggling to maintain anything over 70KB/s on my 2Mb "classic" Gold account...WOW! :rolleyes:

I was planning on riding out the rest of the month with this Openjunk account but these speeds are just unacceptable...will take the knock and purchase a new account elsewhere tomorrow.
 
250k download speed (Battle.net updates) on Silver OW 4 meg uncapped at 8.30 at night.

I'm going to downgrade or get rid of this account. This account used to be perfect. I could:

- Play games during the day
- Stream 360-480p during the day
- Get max speeds from 6pm onwards

Now it's 8.30 and I'm not even using P2P and the speeds are just over half of what I'm paying for... time to move.

The thing that really annoys me is that the majority of their customers won't realise they're getting shafted. People like my mom and dad, and even some of my friends will accept "Telkom", "congestion at the exchange", etc. as excuses, even when it's clear OW has decided to accept customers beyond their available capacity.

I would honestly prefer OW clamped down on P2P (sorry to all you guys who try to download the internet, but I use mine for mostly legit services) and opened up the taps on other protocols...

You do realize that p2p has its legitimize uses? Besides if they didn't fsck it up by overselling and or account sharing then we won't be having this discussion. At all.

A properly managed network doesn't need to just clamp down on x or y its just needs to be managed: I don't see TI tanking, I don't see AH tanking*, I don't see AW tanking, I don't see Mweb tanking, I don't see Plugg tanking, I don't see incredible tanking and finally I don't see axxess tanking as badly as fake gold going on whats happening here. Although some those mentioned can do better.

*well apart from the IPC in some cases (excluding the normal uncaps?)

Can you change it? Do you have access to your account control panel via OW website? I don't :( Well, it doesn't really matter now that I've already requested them to cancel my account.

No denying P2P has legitimate uses, but in reality how many people use it for Linux distros and how many people use it to download movies/music/series/games?

Uhm.. Have you even looked at other ISP's prices?

Axxess 4MB Unshaped Uncapped - R596pm
Afrihost 4MB Unshaped Uncapped - R697pm
WebAfrica 4MB Unshaped Uncapped - R699pm

The Axxess and Afrihost accounts are exactly the same. They are completely unshaped 24/7 and, unlike openweb, they actually offer support. Read the last 40 pages of this thread and you'll understand what I mean.

Do yourself a favour and RUN far away from openweb!
