OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Necuno, I can't really make that call about it being shared and what Openweb are doing with the accounts. What I can see is two IP address's. Everyone is free to draw their own conclusions from this.

What I can say is my account is performing well. I have no issues at the moment.
I am actually a satisfied customer. (Seems like I'm one in a million )

I've been very happy with my gamers king account. 5PM on the bell my internet runs full speed. Always has been this way for the whole year so far.

I get the same thing...except I'm paying for 4mb Business Uncapped/Unshaped every month.

I've dealt with the minor and not so frequent issues in years past but now they are just far too frequent for my liking. The explanations for these don't make sense and I'm sick of playing the "pay more if you want better service" game with them.

Next month marks exactly 3 years I've been with OW. This month will be my last. Time to move on as I've given them ample opportunities lately to do right by a long term customer.

Same story with me... paying for 2mb/s uncapped UNSHAPED product... YET when the clock strikes 8am I immediately loose 70% of my speed until 5pm ish. PATHETIC, I reckon it is time to vote with my wallet.

A year ago - I was in the same position as you.

I justified it, stuck up for OW, worked around it ... and then I stripped my sprocket ...

Moved on and never looked back - I have intermittent issues with my current ISP, but its not a daily thing......

For the past two days "www.ip2location.com" gives my location as Denmark.

It's not a problem on my PC, as it's the same even if I connect a totally different PC to this ADSL line.

It's a bit irritating as some websites now default to Danish.

Anyone else experience this?

Thx.

Nej ikke rigtig.
Og hvad med Openweb historien? :D:D:D

I'm taking a look at the Openweb website & it looks like all the offers have changed. No more Gold, Silver, Nickel etc. Looks like they've simplified things. I've been wanting to upgrade my 2mb 'Uncapped Gold Promotion' to a 4mb product & Telkom has confirmed that I am now paying for a 4mb line (have been for a while now). I need good torrent & streaming performance on whatever backbone I'm on now, with limited shaping. Any suggestions? I'm open to products from other ISPs, but I don't think I should be paying more than R299 for 4mb.

You mean they realised we've cut through the bull**** of too-many-shared accounts ?

Firstly - You get what you pay for ....
Secondly - OW are a bad choice IMHO.
Thirdly - despite their AUP - I would suggest MWEB at R239 excluding line rental.
