OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

The point of shaping is to allow real time services to function when the network is hammered after a hectic weekend. You should probably PM cableguy.

account shaped into the ground again, Openweb when will you buy enough bandwidth to support your user base effectively, each month you take money but do not seem to do sufficient capacity management as for at least half the month we crawl, too much over subscription and account sharing taking place here.............

my leon gold is shaped to death as well. nntp running at 5KB/s...is gold supposed to be shaped so severely after 5pm?

Most probably the 500 titan accounts that are running until the end of the month for free!

My Titan 4mb is at 155kb at the mo on nntp. Web and mail seem normal.
Don't know what speed was like today, but will see what happens this evening.

Right so this is what i am going to test............i will let you all know how it goes against openweb.

Overselling and overbooking
The Act provides for the "reasonableness" test for overselling and overbooking. In terms of this test a supplier may not accept payment for goods or services where it has no reasonable intention to supply the goods or services, or where it intends to supply goods or services that are materially different to the goods or services for which the consumer has paid.

Let's see what reasonable is defined as based upon the act and the account type bought at the time (2nd best account openweb have).

I applaude you kind sir for your quote :)

nntp was un-shaped for awhile but at 19H00 my speeds went to 1KB/s, this is bullS.

Was about to come here and commend OW for what appeared to be a hassle free evening of streaming/downloading, when all of a sudden bam...no NNTP, no Steam, YouTube buffers every 2 seconds on 360p (and even struggles on 144p) and even GMaps struggled earlier on.

Went well for 20 minutes, but then nothingness.

Newshost speeds currently running really slow - 71 KB/s on a 10MB account....

Lucky you; I get a max of 2KB/s on 2MB.

Flying here...

I had the same issue man, during the week i had a local ping of 3000ms to game servers. Exchange/router was blamed. Moved to another ISP to "fix" issue. On the unshaped weekends and evenings, the latency was great!

Most definitely not!

Please PM me asap

This is NOT normal.

I have alerted engineers to investigate.

We have isolated the issue to the Western Cape and surrounds.

The network team is currently investigating further.

Thank you so much for your patience guys!

@cableguy Can you give us a estimated time as to when the issues in the Western Cape will be rectified...or do we have to Brace ourselves for a delay...?
