OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

So over the last couple of days i've noticed my OW session disconnecting randomly which then forces me to redial the connection everytime.. Anyone know why this would be happening?

I've restarted the router and tested it with my Telkom account and have no disconnects, so it just seems like its my OW account that can't keep the session active.

How about some feedback on when my internet will work again? Still more dead than ever, gosh i love openweb when im being shapped to death.

Scrap that. 11:01pm and everything came right again. Downloads and browsing are back to normal.

Seems fishy to me. I"ll have to keep an eye open tomorrow evening to see if it happens again.

Ok so 5:30pm and my speeds have gone from shaped into the ground during working hours back to "slightly less shaped" as they have been for the past 2 nights. Will be keeping an eye on it every hour to see if we have another case of XX:01pm complete unshaping once again. In which case I have a bone to pick with OW since I'm not paying Gold prices to be treated like the rest.

Feels like I'm dealing with another MWEB...

AH? Which others?

Can you please just elaborate on your original statement that the grass isn't greener and it seems all ISPs are having problems, by listing these ISPs/threads.

Still waiting to hear how "All ISPs seem to be battling with contention. Internet in South Africa all over is in a very bad state."

Perhaps name these ISPs or link to the threads on which you base the above statement on. If you cannot, then it's best you edit your post, and continue with your head in the sand, because boy, you're wrong...

Kindly email [email protected]

This is usually caused by your ADSL line losing sync to the exchange or similar, but unfortunately we cannot diagnose the issue without doing some tests first.

We look forward to hearing from you

I already linked you to it, if you would bother to click on any of the threads that aren't labelled Openweb (but it seems that this is the only thread you can access), but regardless, I'm back here for other reasons.

Postman, you are not adding constructively to this thread in any way. From what I've picked up in this thread you left Openweb a long time ago yet here you are, being a very unhelpful chappy (except when people ask for the cancellation email address). You must have a lot of time on your hands or be very angry with Openweb to dedicate so much of your energy to this thread, especially considering you are no longer a customer?

Can you either help the people here having problems or find something better to do with your time?

You are not the person who posted that "All ISPs seem to be battling with contention. Internet in South Africa all over is in a very bad state." They are more than able to reply for themselves.

If you want to take on their statement, defend it, and reply on their behalf, then why simply add nothing by childishly linking a sub-forum which everyone knows about? This, is clearly, unconstructive behaviour. Answer the question, link threads, or make a list, if you are wanting to be helpful.

My asking for substantiation to such a claim has nothing to do with being constructive or not. And it certainly doesn't help others who are having problems by being misleading about all ISPs supposedly battling with contention and internet in South Africa being in a bad state, when this is not the case.

It is the right, and in the interest, of those people suffering. And this should be your priority if you are truly wanting to help people.

Unless it can be substantiated? Make the claim and then prove it. I'm waiting...

...and there we go. 11:01am again and my downloads are all speeding along. :wtf:

It's called a joke, while it still actually has some truth to it. If you were to click on any of the feedback threads, you will see a lot of similar issues as the problems complained about here. I suggest actually clicking the threads and reading them.

I have been with Afrihost, Mweb, Web Africa, Axxess, and Openweb. They've all had issues at some point which is why I choose to vote with my wallet. I am currently with Openweb uncapped because they offer the best deal since Mweb also joined the "threshold" bandwagon. Are they perfect? No, but no one is. This thread is here so existing customers can provide feedback on their service and get assistance when they have problems. Unless you are part of that process, or an existing customers, I don't see why you insist on posting here.

It is the right, and in the interest, of those people suffering. And this should be your priority if you are truly wanting to help people.

Lol. Suffering? Holy cow. First world problems dude. You want suffering? Take a walk on the street sometime and see all the homeless people digging trash out of bins to eat. That is suffering. Your internet is working perfectly? Sure, it's a service you pay for and you expect good service, but if it's not working it's hardly going to make you suffer. And if it does I suggest you get some perspective on life.

Unless it can be substantiated? Make the claim and then prove it. I'm waiting...

Again, take some of the time you spend monitoring this thread and spend it reading ANY of the other service threads. There are plenty of people at other ISPs who have a variety of issues.

In fact, I challenge you to name an ADSL uncapped ISP who has no speed issues? If you can do that I'll gladly move over to them as I am suffering due to my internet only becoming unshaped late in the evening.

Oh, and I'm done after this. I'll be keeping my posts here after this one on topic.

I'm not sure if Openweb has had a lot of customers join recently, but I've also had the problem where P2P shaping disappears later and later at night. I've also had some issues with streaming, but they seem to resolve themselves pretty quickly most of the time.

I read them all, which ones?

Dont feed the troll, zolly

We can then declare that your below statement is not true.

Telling people they should persist through bad performance and that there is no green grass? Good way to help them.

Till next time. ;)

*headache starting*

You have been given a link listing the threads, but you insist I write it all out. No. I'm not going to write out an essay with information you can access with a single click. You are either (a) an arrogant douche with his head up his arse trying to look clever, (b) a troll, or (c) severely stupid.
