OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Could not even watch 360p youtube last night after 8pm without really irritating buffering on 4mb line.

I also got the SMS last night and I haven't cancelled yet...

PM me the magnet URI and I'll try it this evening. (put the magnet in a code block otherwise mybb takes out the % signs)

MR Beep & Cableguy were are you? Have you also jumped ship cause Openweb is sinking!! Are there any life boats left cause I'm definitely not sinking with this ship:D:D:D

It's pretty obvious that Keoma is waiting for this thread to calm down before popping in to advert new rebranded ****ty accounts again.

And im tired of everyone complaining, next month same thing, complain. GO ELSEWHERE FFS. If they are that bad then why have the head ache of staying, just find another ISP. OW is clearly going downhill from the last pages of flaming but still people complain. Its clear, they suck, so move to another ISP. Thats all im saying.

Perhaps WOW is not entertaining enough, hence the need to troll on this forum.

My argument is that the average Joe Consumer in South Africa has become far to passive when it comes to service delivery in most forms and because of this any company takes full advantage of this, happily taking money from a 'soft', 'gullible' client base. Enough is enough, yes I will take my money else where eventually, but not without trying to protect my interests as a consumer. I provide negative feed back when service is poor to non-existent on this forum, and would provide positive feed back if I was fortunate to experience it. (To be honest my first 9/10 months with OW were basically smooth sailing and good service, yet that has changed drastically the last 2/3 months!)
FYI, after having an account reset yesterday by Zelda of OW, this did not resolve a slow browsing experience, where even Google Maps would not load without a coffee break, on reporting back, Leon was 'kind' enough to, wait for it... assign another routed account!

Guess I am reaching the end of my tether, have provided Leon my honest feedback, his response will determine my decisions moving forward.

Anyhow, you do know that you qualify for an unshaped uncapped account if you're a original gold uncapped subscriber? Send OW an email and see if you can get your account.

I don't think this is true. Cableguy offered original gold subscribers to be a part of this trial to see if they would offer the product permanently. For those that got in on it, there was no additional cost. Obviously it was just an attempt to calm people down here because a few days later the product was offered on their website. I assume this means that there are no more "trial" accounts. However, don't let that stop anyone from emailing them and asking.

Cableguy did say that openweb would possibly upgrade all original gold accounts to this unshaped profile. Although, he also said that Openweb enforces "dynamic" shaping, doesn't throttle, and doesn't share accounts.. So I wouldn't take him too seriously if I were you.

Things are working okay on my side at the moment. Not great, but good enough for now.

A short while ago I tried to open Kalahari.com and it took so long that I gave up in frustration.

I am now trying to download 8.28Mb of data and my download speed is under 4Kb/s. Utterly ridiculous.

Unfortunately I have to wait until the end of June to be shot of this Chamber of Horrors. It can't come fast enough.

It feels as if you're being derogatory and unsympathetic towards people experiencing issues. If this is not the case, then I apologize. You're of course allowed to post whatever feedback you want, but there seems to be a group of people in this thread who seem to have no issues and frequently make posts that seem to be intended to put down all the 'whiners' and 'complainers.'

Hmm, I wasn't aware of this. Does it perform as advertised, though? I'm always very hesitant to contact Openweb with regards to receiving a new account, because I've often received accounts that perform terribly and then when I contact support they tell me there's nothing wrong with the account.

Nail on the head there. Positive feedback is welcome, but should be limited to the experience (as in, things are good for me - bye!) because some don't realize the same applies to the negative feedback. The only reason so many of us are "complaining" (in threads actually set up for this purpose btw) is because problems persist. The fact that people are complaining repeatidly is because their problems are NOT being resolved or addressed, where as you don't need to "address" positive feedback at all.

I'm not sure who can defend OW in these dark hours and be of sane mind to be frank, there is a tremendous amount of shifty information that doesn't add up, and that they can't explain either. Whoever chooses to stay on OW is welcome to do so, but remember, you're digging your own grave.

Ag nee my *** man.

That 2gb torrent is still not finished. 18h29min later.

Where the hell is MrBeep or cableguy to tell us what the hell is going on?

I wouldn't hold my breath. They both know they've been busted, hence their silence. However they seem to have some fanboys here, one of my posts about OW got censored I see...

Ja OW throttles them really hard, didn't you know?

Good grief!! Don't let OW hear you say they 'throttle'.

A few months ago I received a most indignant e-mail from the CEO himself castigating me from all corners because I dared mention the word 'throttling' in my one e-mail to the technical support of OW.

He told me in no uncertain terms and in big bold capitals that OW does not 'throttle' they 'shape' and that MWeb was the one that throttles.

Not being an IT person, I didn't even know there was a difference:confused:

OW doesnt throttle, they just shape, they shape ALL protocols. Thats what they think shaping means.

Such correspondence is not uncommon. If you send too many emails complaining about the service you'll often be met with a veiled threat asking if you would like your account cancelled. I've seen that one on more than a few occasions.
