OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

And yet yesterday you told people in the WebAfrica thread to completely ignore complaints not backed up by 'evidence.' That completely undermines any complaint where the poster is not going to excessive amounts of effort to 'back up' their claims.

You'll have to make up your mind. Are you suggesting we post proof or are you setting an ultimatum where posts should be ignored if not accompanied by proof of rigorous testing?

I don't have the time, nor the will, to do tracerts, speedtests and screenshots, log into another account in my router, do tracerts, speedtests and screenshots and then come upload them here every single time I have an issue with my account. Sorry. You'll just have to take my word for it.

I apologize as my Jack Daniel fueled haze affects my memory sometimes ;)

I went to the WA thread to have a look at what you're talking about, but found what I was looking for straight away, and I quote:

"I don't take complaints like this seriously unless they are backed up with hard evidence like speedtests and tracerts from alt ISP's!

People, please ignore posts like this!

I'm sorry Plassjapie, I don't mean to offend you, and am just trying to point you in the right direction "

If I contradicted myself earlier in the thread, then I'm sorry, and can only blame it on that I have a higher tolerance for "real" IS resellers like Connection, Plugg and WA :(

I'm not trying to fight with you so let's this be?

Sorry, I misread your post, but after reading it a few times, it still doens't compute.

It doesn't matter to me tho as I'm sure I got the same message across in 2 different threads, implying impartiality?

I think maybe this is a sign that I should slow down on that JD's!

Yip speeds sucking on openweb.... :( cant even play online games... changed to my backup account and online gaming is awesome again

Usual openweb. Move to afrihost.

Um... No. Jy het die kat aan die stert beet.

My OW account steams along. Not necessarily all accounts that performs poorly. If you pay a special reduced rate expect that as service. Pay for an original told and it will be pretty good.

Good for you boet, ek is baie bly.
I changed to another ISP today my line has been PERFECT ever since.
My iPad has ceased to complain about not being able to see the App Store
My torrent downloads are BLAZING
GMail works properly.

Bye bye OpenWeb. You only have yourself to blame.

The way internet should be. IMO, it's the guys that have experienced "proper" internet, before moving to OW (whatever their reason was for doing so, I can only assume it's price?) that complain a lot as they're not stupid and know what they should be getting but doesn't happen, and when you either get told by support that that's the way it is or if you're in luck to be on gold, and have the option of receiving a limitless supply of different login account details!

Shame on you for not making an immediate move as soon as you had issues :D, but shame on me too as I hung around for 6 months using 1 recycled account after another, eventually enough was enough! ;)

If I was OW, I would just submit to the star rating and be done with it, just like every other IS reseller out there, as what they're doing isn't doing them any favours, case in point: thread un-stickied hoping the thread will fade into the background, instead it remains at the top of the list pretty much constantly, just one line down from where it was before - lol

I have an Openweb original gold account and mine doesn't perform 'pretty good' all the time. In fact, since last night I've managed to download a total of 158mb on a torrent. Well-seeded, btw.

It seems with Openweb it's hit or miss, regardless of what account you have. Either you get good performance or you don't.

and that's it, I won't derail the thread anymore ;)

What line speed do you have?

Fact of the matter is... when I had MWEB my internet was good. Now its better. When I was with OW it was a constant battle.

Enough said!

When you were with Mweb and you downloaded a torrent, what did your graph look like? Peaks and valleys, or table mountain?

@ Zewp

Bump on the linespeed question?

I am in a position to help you but only up to 4mb speeds :(

Let me know, or send me a PM or something, I have a spare account I'm not using that you can try out, just get in touch ;)

As I recall, it was constant, it slowed down a bit during peak times i.e. business hours, but from around 23:00 onwards it used to be table mountain. Pretty much what I am getting now.

With OW its a sawtooth, and momentary traffic cessations for periods of 5-10 seconds.
