OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

You know, this is one reason why I am reluctant to actually reveal my business on this forum, even though it would help me enormously to grow.
I am so scared that I fall off the ball down the line and end up being just like Openweb...

Koosi, honesty and more honesty, thats all you need. You will be respected and your business will flourish.

yes Koosi please tell us. OW is a big joke. Im cancelling my contract today to move to someone else! OW should close their doors. Been struggling with them for 2 months, every time they said it's Telkoms fault. I got Telkom to come to my house and try and fix a non existent problem about 5 times, with each time making me more annoyed with them. So at the end a Senior tech guy phoned from Telkom and gave me a Telkom test account that worked perfectly.

OW you SUCK and please stop lying to your clients. With the rate you are going, you won't have any clients left in a few months!

Agreed, is there no way to get MyBB involved, run a story, do a query, give us answers from them?

No, rpm will not run a story where OpenWeb are seen in a negative light. Lots of people sent him pm's about the account sharing thing and nothing has happened.

I'm still trying to get over the fact that Openweb, who has always been known to have one of the strongest forum presences among the SA ISPs, retracted their reps just like that.

It speaks volumes of their company that they can just pull something like that when the going gets tough. Just goes to show how they were bull****ting us all these years and when they were finally caught out, they just pack it up and leave. The worst part is that the forum was the best support channel they had, because the only way to get results with Openweb is to take everything public. Now we have to handle all our issues in private, meaning we have to deal with OW lying to us via email and doing everything in their power to not help us.

Sorry, I'm just still shocked by the fact that they would back out of the forum like this. It's a massive F U to everyone here.

Hence I've been saying... look at AH or Mweb, when it going got tough they stuck it out even if they where wrong or right. No running away on first hint of difficult customers.

This literally says: you mean fsckall to OW.

I am not interested in what rpm's business relationship is with OpenWeb.
I am aware that several other service providers have vested interests (for lack of a better term) in this forum. Such is the nature of a media platform and rightly or wrongly so.

My interest is limited to the fact that I am a bona fide customer of Openweb, and I have proven their product to be rubbish. My interest is relating my experience with OW and hopefully to bring this to the attention of prospective clients. I wish I was told about this back in December, but, in the end it worked out pretty well.

Generally, running a story against a company, (sponsor or not) is not a good idea unless it is proven beyond a doubt i.e. proof that can stand up in a court of law. Us who know IP, yes we know the accounts are shared. But how to prove it, you need the smoking gun i.e. proof where Koos down the road is using the same login as you. Once you have that, then I am sure a story can run.

Yes I know the Engen petrol station down the road was sharing my OW account at some stage, but he won't give me his login, because how does he know I am not a criminal?

You should be confident in your business..

OT, I am confident.
Anything can happen, for example my wife could floor me by filing for divorce, and what happens is I go into a nervous breakdown and don't respond to the forum for weeks. Then people get irritated, and I get labeled as a fraudster, etc.. Or I could get hit by a bus and nobody will know until someone has 1/2 a brain to post here.

The problem is that at the moment my account is running full speed again. I'm currently downloading the Neverwinter MMO and I've already done 1.8gb since 8am this morning. This is on a 1mb account running on a 2mb line. At R258 a month, I'm not going to get another account that can do this from any other ISP for the same price.

When my account works, it works great and that's the problem. Most of the time I get good value for my money for my money from Openweb. It's just that they're compulsive liars and have shady business practices. This makes it problematic, because I can either stay with Openweb and have an account that performs excellently 90% of the time or I can move to a less shady ISP and have an account where I have to deal with usage thresholds and throttling.

I guess better the devil you know than the one you don't. In my case, at least.

I would say the benefits outweigh the risks.. but I understand where you are coming from..

I was burned at the stake on another forum I cannot mention here, for a simple mistake, which I fixed in any case. That hurt.
Enough of that.

Sadly yes and it always seems to become: Which of the devils do I go with.
