OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Hmm, thanks for all the speedtests. It's probably something in my area then. I'll ring up Telkom and hear if there's a fault in my area.

Run a tracert to test where the issue is before calling Telkom. Or PM me and I'll sort it out for you behind the scenes quickly...

But why can't it test packet loss?

EDIT: Oh right... Firewall.

Oh bloody hell. No wonder. My parents got home from Namibia yesterday and they're transferring photos from one iPad to another. Instead of doing it locally like normal people, they're doing it over the internet, so there's about 10gb of photos uploading at 50kb/s. :/

Sorry to both Telkom and Openweb. Brainfart on my side.

Go into your router settings and look for the bandwidth management tools and allocate preference to your IP. Done and dusted. Now they can complain about the slow connection and you can use Keoma's favourite excuse: blame Telkom...

Yeehaa!

Nah, I'm just going to sync the photos via iTunes.

What bloody horrible devices.

Brilliant. No wonder Mybroadband doesnt want to do articles on Openwebs account sharing and sly manouvers. They doing personal interviews and articles with Dr Wright himself. I thought it was just a joke but I guess Openweb has Mybroadband in it's pocket afterall. :(

where do you draw that inference from
a PR statement from Wright has been published by the staff reporter as part of the spitting out process

I don't see a case that MyBB is covering OpenWeb corruption any more than they haven't published an article on MWEB or ISPA etc ...

Its very simple to draw that conclusion. As several and literally several people have requested mybroadband to write an artivle about the account sharing matter and nothing has come of it. And now Mybb are sharing businesstechs articles(done by their staff) on their news. Since there have been multiple requests and nothing but radio silence on the matter from Mybb its a easy conclusion to draw.

MyBB reporters generally just copy paste stuff or aggregate information, they are not made of the stuff that Carte Blanche or 3rd Degree reporters are made of.

Still doesnt explain why they arent posting an article on the account sharing for weeks yet that like you say copy and paste articles show casing Dr Wright.

If you look at it - and the subject comes up from time to time - there is some wonderful reporting on MyBB but in the main they are thinly stretched on the journalism side of things. Have a look at the staff numbering and output and its clear where problems step in.

At the end of the day most companies in this industry spend more money on spin trained in journalism than the news outlets spend on news.

Blame it on Apple for not providing their iThings with USB ports :p

I find it odd though that you still see OpenWeb banners and stuff on this forum. Surely if you are going to evacuate a platform you aren't going to throw money at advertising on it.
