OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

http://businesstech.co.za/news/columns/57789/throttling-is-ridiculous-isp/ :D He's here. I can feel his presence. It's so cold.

This guy's clearly a pathological liar. He publicly denounces other ISPs for throttling their clients but he's been doing the same thing to us and the worst part is that he doesn't even acknowledge it. So despicable
You might want to tone down the wild accusations there...MrBeep has his flaws but he does genuinely try and is quite willing to go out of his way to do so.

I find it odd though that you still see OpenWeb banners and stuff on this forum. Surely if you are going to evacuate a platform you aren't going to throw money at advertising on it.
Have they announced this officially? OW has had a rep here longer & more consistently than *any* other ISP so them not posting for a bit doesn't seem sufficient to conclude that imo.

Both rep and master has left the building: Silence talks volumes, money moves both article and banner.

So robin you see now where your merry men went...

Any ideas why Mr. Beep stopped coming here to provide tech support? I think he's been avoiding us because he knows that we know that there's something dodgy with OW accounts.

I don't think they would announce departing from the platform.

A recent influx of users saying stuff like this might have something to do with it

Mr. Beep, you could've been in jail for being so fsucking cheating in a 1st world country.

As I said he tries, but given the tone in this thread lately I'm not at all surprised he isn't posting - I certainly wouldn't in his shoes.

Fair enough - I still don't see OW giving up on mybb though...he fielded a 1:1 interview with biztech/mybb yesterday. I think MrBeep has just had enough of all the BS...that theory seems to be supported by the OW being someone other than mrbeep (again first time in like the entire history of mybb)...

The Tone?

He ran with tail between legs, hes rep did the same when they where caught out.

Unless of course you are one of those denialists here.

The BS, right.

Denialist you are then.

The BS right:

Not sure how to prove that they were on different packages (one guy cancelled his account now). They have completely different line speeds however, the one with the support ticket having a 4mbps line and the other a 2mbps line. The 4mbps guy also had Titan Uncapped or something similarly bottom-tier while the 2mbps had a slightly more premium account.

PostmanPot can confirm that the accounts had the same password as I forwarded the emails to him.

Hi all

If you suspect that you have been duped by signing up with openweb and getting half speeds or no speeds, please email [email protected] with all the details. I have taken this route as i am fairly upset that my account was shared amongst users bar myself. I had a gold account that barely worked and managed to ascertain that it was in use by another person in CPT which is not fair. I paid the full amount for my account but never really got the service.

I view this as fraud and IS are assisting me with this, once done i'll be taking openweb to small claims court to reverse the money. will keep you all posted as this is all hinging on IS providing me with the details.

The bottom line here is Telkom and IS kept being blamed for all the OW issues and that detracts from their brand value they have. Openweb will need to show hard proof in the court that it wasnt them and i have all their feedback in writing which does make life easier.

Good stuff, deserves its own thread so more can follow suit.

ah - missed that drama. Ignore my previous posts then...at 277 pages I must admit I haven't been reading all of the thread.

Ok, you are forgiven.

oh cry me a river. Have you read all 277 pages?

No excuses. It takes about an hour to read those 277 pages. It's worth your while, mate.

DJ used to be a big fan of OW a few months ago and now he hates Mr. Beep with a passion :D How did it happen? Read those 277 pages!

Actually they have. The start of it was the unsticky'ing of the Openweb feedback thread and then suddenly silence on their part.

I cant find it now to quote but some time after that people were replied to via private msg from Cableguy and MrB33p stating that this is not an official support channel anymore. If you have any queries you will have to lodge them via the call centre. If i manage to find the quote i will post it here :)

Is it possible to send a disconnect command, (where the service is interrupted for 1 to 5 seconds), on ISP level to 1 specific user, then it takes that user 2 min to reconnect?

Correction: I don't hate Mr Beep. Not in the slightest. I think their actions as a company have been sub-par and it has tarnished the company brand for me, but that doesn't mean that I hate Keoma - far from it.

I have a lot of respect for the business Keoma built.

I also think that it's high time that I disclaim this with the fact that I will be launching a new ISP on to the South African market in a few weeks' time, and while this immediately makes one think that I'd knock the competition, that's not the case. Afrihost can attest to this, and I have for many years been taking ISPs to task...
