GoodWill see about upgrading my AH account to Business Uncapped AND downgrading my line speed back to 2Mbps from 4Mbps on Monday next week.
Are their data + line bundles not perhaps affordable?
I've always wondered about speedtest and IS-based uncapped accounts myself. With IS accounts (not specifically Openweb), it doesn't matter how badly throttled or shaped your internet is, you'll pretty much always get a very good result.
The only times that you don't get a good result is if there's an actual problem with the account or your line.
At least, this has been my personal experience with IS accounts.
If AH's free GB works well for you, then so should Business. Based on similar profiles.
I believe AH has an Eastern IPC, which I don't think is too problematic. It's mainly the South which is a problem.

EL IPC would be CT AFAIK.
I heard that the AH Southern IPC is bonked or something like that. Or has it already been resolved by now?
I think they're all running close to max capacity, which is why they have to run "tests" on the uncapped accounts.
I wouldn't touch MTN with a 10 foot pole.
How long have they been running "tests" on the uncapped accounts?Doesn't look like they are planning to upgrade the Southern IPC, are they? Man, uncapped ADSL is getting more and more unattractive these days. Expensive and less rewarding.
I disagree with this statement.
During office hours, when there is shaping applied, speedtest would reflect the http level of shaping/throttling (normally 50%), p2p/nntp would normally be lower (normally 25%).
For a few weeks now. No plans to upgrade from what I've heard. Best uncapped is Plugg or Connection (no 30 day) and 20GB capped (Connection) for emergencies during office hours. Plugg and Connection are pretty much the same from what I've experienced (unshaped after 5pm and weekends) but I think Plugg's stars drop a little slower than Connection.

Just speaking from my experience on a 2Mb line. During office hours, my speedtests always show around 1.5-1.6MB/s which is the same as what I get over weekends. In reality though, during peak hours downloads are throttled and pages take longer to load.
I have never had a speedtest reflect lower than around 1.4Mb/s unless there's an actual fault somewhere.

Necessary evil IMO. I would rather get the 20GB capped @ R49 and IS uncapped than be on an iffy MTN network, at half the price.
You could create a thread, asking for the verdict from AH Business users in your area.![]()
It's way too late for me to pull out nowMy AH Home Uncapped account is less than 1 week old now. It's still very young at this stage. Will see what it's like when it hits 1 month old before deciding whether to dump AH or not.
EDIT: PostmanPot and Wingnuts, what are your thoughts on CrystalWeb?
Still too early to tell hey, I'm reserving judgement until after they officially launch. I'm hoping that them being on the Cybersmart backbone isn't going to hamper them, coz my experience of that backbone has always been sub-par, altho, this was a while back when they only had one IPC in CT.
