i was under the impression it was for july's access.

I told the sales guy that my telkom account expires on the 27th, and i cant afford to have my web server down, he said not a problem, just deposit the money and ill activate you. so i did, and he did.

do you really think i would have activated 3 days before month end if i knew they were going to charge me again ?

I would have used prepaid for 3 days if i had known.

its alot of money, youd think they could have mentioned this little fact.

So you said you couldn't have the server down, so they activated it immediately. What were you expecting them to do?

Would it have hurt for them to point it out to him.

What about the the lack of communications he claims to have experienced?

The onus is not on them to do that - it is all there in their terms and conditions.

Also, in their position, if you know it is a company that 'cannot afford to have its webserver down' then I don't think it unfair to assume that the comapny is willing to pay R1300 for 3 days uncapped fast internet.

you guys dont understand, i did not fill out application forms or anything, i did not see any written notices.

I called them to find out about the uncapped service, i told them i am in a pickle and need connection as my telkom is due to expire very soon.

I did the EFT while the guy was on the phone, he said that the guy who activates accounts wasnt there, but he would forward the mail to him to activate my account.

i waited, and waited. i finaly thought i was being scammed so i made a topic on mybb about my account not being activated, some guy on myBB asked me for my mail address and activated it for me, there is a thread on mybb where i posted about them not activating me.

I was never told that they would bill me again in 3 days time.

and you are forgetting about the ***** service, communication is not one of their strong points. the fact is that from the word start i had nothing but issues with them. the least they could have done was to overlook the incedent since they coudl see i havnt downloaded anything and used minimal bandwidth, and secondly i recieved poor service.

but no. they demand full payment days afterwards or else they cut me off. and they tell me this after they cut me off.

no matter how you look at this. i got screwd over.

1) Did he expect to pay "something" for the three days?
2) If he did then he should have asked what he could expect to pay.
3) It is not a huge assumption that for "uncapped internet" he would probably be paying more than just a pro-rata rate. That much seems common sense to me.

ISPs are not baby sitters... it is tough in the real world. Should Spar have to tell every customer that if you actually open that Milk Bottle that it might go sour in a few days? No... the instructions are on the bottle. Let the customer read the instructions.

apparently its to much to ask of some companies:

money: jajajajajajaja
extra info: what extra info, **** them they can read...

I agree, man.

I can understand the OP's frustration and disappointment - but it is a lesson learned. And not an indictment of Openweb - he would have received the same service from any ISP.

Does the Engen Garage Till Attendant have to read all the terms and conditions of the Axxess pre-paid Gig when Joe Public runs in to top up his bandwidth?

Why are people defending this Openweb case?

Openweb (and other ISP's) are selling you a car that is only valid from a point in time to another point in time. A situation that is not blatantly obvious to a newcomer. And they do not discount the price of the car as the available car-time moves on.

It is a practise that is extremely biased against good social behaviour, yet people insist on defending that practise.

The fact that it is a practice already suggests that people should expect it to be the case.

And it's in the terms and conditions.

;)

Hey, Mr Beep, there are just too, too, too many threads like this.

Hire yourself a competent business manager, and get real.

You can't run a company on sticky tape and chewing gum forever.

AXXESS have very specific PRE-PAID NON EXPIRING and BASIC EXPIRING products. You simply cannot compare the two ISP's modus operandi.

I know it hurts to get hit for a bill you aren't expecting (!##$ telkom), but you were a bit naive if you thought you could get free internet access for 3 days and then only have to pay for next month. At best you can maybe get a pro-rata rate, but since it's an uncapped account I'm not sure how lucky you will be, especially since you made use of the account.

The lesson is simple ... If you don't like onions on your Hamburger, tell them that BEFORE they make your hamburger... and then accept that they are still going to charge you full price for that Hamburger. :D
