Brilliant, well done Keoma. Looks at least one of the ISP's out there is actually paying attention to the consumer needs.
Now if only WebAfrica and the rest of the ISP's would actually catch a wake and do the same.

OK, don't really like their domain names.. Try www.dyndns.com or www.no-ip.com for a free domain, or if you like for a small fee (per Anum) you can register your own domain [www.yourdomain.co.za] with them, and have it redirected to your ADSL router/machine....

I've had a No-Ip account for about 2 years now, not a days trouble. The only time it failed, was when my update client stopped, but it was my fault for stopping the windows service, and to top it all, it runs on a WinXP machine, and it has not been rebooted in about 6 months, and when it was rebooted, was due to power failures in our area. (No UPS)

If you have your own domain this is how you could do it:
set up your domain with one of the free dns providers - then set the CNAME (most free dns providers offer this ability) to point to your dynamic Openweb domain.

But who wants to have "betty.dns.openweb.co.za" when you can have www.betty.co.za or .com etc? Have you tried telling someone over the phone, Yes sure, go to my website "betty dot D, N, S dot openweb dot co dot za / mydocs / index.html...." ANYWAY, my 20 centz, you know, use it, don't use it....

Read what was said above. You register a domain and then just modify the name server records to make the domain point to the betty.dns....

2 things..
1. this can be bad if its available by default as you become a target and have a trail unlike before where you are some ip.(for users that are less technically inclined or have spyware or have bad/no firewalls etc)
2. If your username is used, that's one less thing you need to guess to steal bandwidth. Hopefully they also bind it to the users exch port etc. but yah.. using usernames of accounts can be bad.

I take it that no one has noticed that Axxess has gone live with there new website a few days ago.
They also offer free Dynamic DNS services to all there ADSL customers.

Finally! Their new site has been "coming soon" for so many months now that I finally stopped checking. BTW, it's looking great - such a big improvement. And nice that they're also offering free dynamic DNS.
