Hey guys, are Afrihost and Openweb good? Which would you suggest? I am tired of mweb. If I leave Mweb can I still keep my email address? how much will that cost? I don't use too much each month. I use anywhere from 80-180GB (4mbps). I'm looking at the 4meg and 10meg.

Thanks

Yes, I did. But I did it in the wrong forum section. I'm guessing more people read here.

I think you will find a couple of threads around this forum on various ISP's uncapped / capped performance.

I'm not sure if OpenWeb still does this, but you can grab a trial 48Hr Gold Uncapped account - you can use that and test performance. I think Axxess offers 3GB trial account, you could grab that too and test performance there.

If your usage is up to 180gb, I'd suggest going with Openweb. They sell you uncapped that doesn't get restricted according to usage. With usage like that on Afrihost you're probably going to get throttled until you cry.

+1

I used OpenWeb, I had hit 180GB the one month on my 1Mbps line, they didn't throttle me to death. They just had shaping during the day and unshaping at night.

Although based on this article, it seems that AfriHost is just as good.

Personally I am happy with AH and really enjoy the ease of changing my cap according to my needs. Price, me thinks, is quite good too.

Why do you wear caps in winter?

Been with OpenWeb for about 2 years now if not longer... Jumped around quite a bit in the first 6 months as I always tried to get the "better" deal but I always ended up back with OpenWeb. Just having some issues with their support lately but other than that no complaints

webafrica

Jumped around a lot and is pleasantly surprised. Had 4mb line and upgraded to 10mb. Also great sofar. Bottomless download from 24h00 to 06h00 and this dobt count on your normal downloading before being checked.

When you combine Business DSL into a bundle, it actually works out very affordably :)

Yes, that's precisely why I'm moving to Afrihost permanently from next month. I will be signing up for a bundle.

I know with your data accounts it's quite simple to switch between different account speeds at the end of the month or even during the month. My question is how would swapping between different speeds work with a bundle? As an example, if I'm on a 1mbps bundle and on the 15th of the month I would like to change to a 2mbps bundle. Maybe at the end of the month I would like to switch back to a 1mbps bundle. It doesn't sound like a very realistic situation, but I'm just curious.

You can change between packages even when you are on a bundle. Data should change immediately, though line changes are subject to Telkom's processes :)
