I have seen many threads on openweb gold but never standard so I haver a choice between mweb or openweb standard 384 which one must I choose my useses are
Gaming browsing and torrents
I plan to download 70 gig and over. Will this be possible with a 384 line?
And is http downloads shaped during the day(excluding file sharing sites mediafire) or are they full speed.

I would love a test acount but I hade afew question 1. How much could I download with a 384 line I need about 60 to 70 gig a month will I pull this off with a 384 account and is the trial uncapped for the 7 days or is it capped.

Uncapped is not really about downloading, but rather unlimited usage. Although it surf that purpose well too.:D
Good luck getting 60 to 70Gb on a cheap uncapped account (these days...).

No, unless you are cheating and are doing nothing else but downloading, then I would say not possible. The account is shaped so much that it isn't achievable any other way.

70 GB is quite a lot for a 384 kb line although it is still within the theoretical limits. I have a 384 line with an uncapped account, and to be honest with you, it is a lot of PT to do even 50 GB in a month. You will need to be downloading almost on a continuous basis. Problem is, it will interfere with your normal daytime browsing, emailing etc. If you limit yourself to night time downloading only, then you won't get near 70GB.

Also, you are very likely to get throttled long before the 70GB limit with most of the cheaper 384 uncapped account. Eg, Afrihost started throttling me at about the 12GB limit. I have an OpenWeb Gold account now, and so far the experience seems much better.

Tell us about this theory and how you calculate it.

In reality, parts of the internet that use data are shaped (slowed down), thus making it unachievable under normal circumstances. eg. torrents, games, skype, youtube, newsgroups ...

use the right protocols and understand how the isp shape you, then you can get 70gb.

with mweb , just use cached content on there news server, it goes full speed 24/7.

downloading multithread etc

i have seen 100gb done before, 75gb down, 25gig up on 384 mweb.

Is that why you are not with them any more?

yep unchached 1080p movies is never cached, someone else on unshaped must download it first so you can get full speed.

uncached also never pick up speeds , stays 50kbs always, i moved for the better news server.

People who moaned about problems with Mweb's news server were told it was a legacy product that was never going to be fixed or upgraded. Never used it myself.
