I decided to give open web a try thing month and I can tell I am not a happy customer at all.
I signed up for openweb on the 30th April 2013 by the 1st I asked to cancle and they said no thry upgrade me to the openweb gamers account will to tell you in a nice its R150 more and is even worst. I will igmit I am a heavy user but I didnt expect what I got.

1. All protocal are shaped not just p2p etc
2. Youtube is slow to load afrihost much quickers
3. Youtube buffers on a 4 meg line with nothing downloading didnt on my old ISP
4. Connection stability is terrible on thing like FTP and VPN I do a alot of remote support and opten have to download and upload big file Open I cannot do this. I have to date nopt being able to upload a 40 meg file without there crap service timing out.
5. I CANNOT ACCESS FNB.co.za yet on my 1 gig capped account which I just got from another ISP for free I can without a problem.
6. I applied my right as consumer and asked to cancle with in my 7 days grace and they refuse to cancle my account and refund me my money instead they say I need to email Zelda only email not speak yet when I signed up Zelda was happy to talk to me know I cannot get her on the phone.
7. P2P downloading is so crap have not got anything near max line speed since I have changed to them.
8. Skype calls quality is worse than using my 3G card due to throtaling

I challange OpenWeb to address my concerns as these are legitmate concerns and I not getting anywhere except a call centre.

I want my money back you can deduct for the 7 days I tried the service.

Gamers account is just as bad, DO NOT BE FOOLED. I had the GK account and it literally could not have been worse, even people on their most overpriced packages are complaining. They have gone more downhill than a dung beetle and carrying twice as much s-h-i-t.

Their 30 day cancellation is also very unpleasant.

Minor trick? Look at the feedback threads, the more active the more people complaining and hell is the OW one active.

Oh and added "bonus"? They share accounts amoung users. So you can be in a tug of war with up to 4 people at once for your pittance.

I'm on a 2MB gamers king account and although speeds sucks balls during the day, after 5 and on weekends my account is just fine.

Seem to differ from case to case...mine is running 24KB *above* the advertised speed (it usually does).

You should be entitled to a refund if you asked within 7 days though.

The English in the OP's post is shocking.

The fact that he started two threads for the same thing is equally shocking ..........

Maybe we should tell him or her that the modern software includes a smell checker :p

Dear OP
Openweb is the [CENSORED] ISP I have ever experienced. If I had a choice between that an dial-up, I'd take dial-up.
I am done with OW.

I left Afrihost before signing up with OpenWeb. I was given an OpenWeb test account for a week, which performed very well.

I then opted for the 4Mbps Gold Uncapped (Power) account.

On most days during working hours, normally around 11h00, Internet access is almost impossible with everything being shaped to death. Yesterday it was so bad, that I couldn't even open up http://www.google.co.za.

No matter how many router reboots I tried during the hours of 11h00-17h00, nothing worked until the clock struck 17h00.

I have noticed this pattern & most days @ 17h00 is when everything works as it should.

This means that during the day, one cannot browse, game or download anything. Even something as simple as downloading e-mail is impossible.

The default reponse from OpenWeb support is to reboot one's router.

While I understand the need for shaping, I still expect to have a product that works. To make matters worse, support is only available during office hours Monday-Friday 08h30-17h00. This means that if one has a problem on a weekend, public holiday or after hours, you have no recourse.

To say that I am a disappointed OpenWeb customer (soon to be ex-customer as I have cancelled & given the obligatory month's notice) would be an understatement.

My advice is that it isn't worth having OpenWeb as an ISP & that the test accounts which are provided are just smoke & mirrors. Steer clear & find someone else to give your hard earned money to.

My belief is that as a customer I should get what I pay for & if the company involved isn't able to provide this service/product then it shouldn't be in business.

Sorry OpenWeb, but it just isn't good enough!?!

I've had the router nonsense from them before (No offense Zelda, you probably work your ass off, but admitting internal issues is something I've almost never ever seen OW do) but the worst is when problems persist and....without even checking which package you're on they send you a copy&paste "As with all things in life, you get what you pay for! ;)" insisting one pays even more for a poor connection.

I'll say this, I've been on Axxess 4mb UNSHAPED for 10 days now and gotten more down than my entire time with openweb, it's also what....R20 pricier than OW's SHAPED Orange Gold (Madingo Pineapple Z). I don't understand how their pricing, performance and attitude match up.

I had a drug addict tenant living in our cottage, claimed to be friends with the OW CEO, I'm starting to think that was the one thing she was being honest about.

So, another day yesterday of a completely unusable product. It is shocking to say the least!?!

Then come 17h00 & everything works again.

So, I switched over to Web Africa last night. Will just have to bite the bullet for this month - Paying twice because Open Web is incapable of supplying a product which they charge for :(

Then to add insult to injury, last night @ 21h02 I receive this SMS:

"Evening, Openweb is offering FREE Uncapped ADSL for new and returning clients until end May 2014 Visit: http://www.openweb.co.za for more info."

WTF?!? Are you people insane?!?
