:(

16KBps to New York speedtest..... local isn't much better.
Already restarted my router.

Thanks , this worked for me as i thought we never had access to usage info :D.
userstats.isdsl.net

Do you know if you can check the Vodacom Backbone usage stats aswell besides Openweb's control panel as i am on the special , we do not have access to the control panel :/.

Nope, there is no way to check usage on the VB backbone Yuu, you'll have to get something like Networx to monitor your usage, it's what I use : http://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/

:)

@StoneCold

Is your international website access normal again or still problematic? (VB)

What Usenet servers do you folks use? Considering swapping from Newsdemon. When I swapped to them from Astraweb at a stage, I went from shaping to full speed..

Newsdemon $10 for life special, also if you use for example SABNZBD, i setup 20 connections to both SSL servers although not so many needed :p, so if there is an issue to EU SSL, the US is there already connected :). You can setup upto 10 or more settings, not sure about AltBinz and other clients.

killadoob linked to the special 2 days ago :p

imo ND is the best out there...

Tried Astraweb before and although it worked, i just stuck with ND.

/facepalm , you already use ND, not sure why i linked to it :D...mybad

Hahah, thanks man!! Just getting like 100kb/s on VB :( Wanted to see if there were any alternatives as good.

Finally Telkom has fixed our exchange! Now are there still problems with international (IS) as I am getting a nice 1kb/s on my 4m gold. Switching to afrihost it improves somewhat to about 200kb/s and on a saix account it's going almost full speed...

Not so happy seeing that my internet last worked on the 8th of October and I have not been able to download much at all since then.

It's better, won't say it's 100% fixed, some sites still load slow, while others load fine. What's happening on your side ?

Same here. A few USA links just hang there for ages in IE. An example of one I cannot access at all:

http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/portal-2

I cannot access "extended" URLs to such websites, but I can access the main URL of that domain, e.g. "www.metacritic.com". Kinda strange.

But it's improving, so it should be 100% again soon. I'll sit it out. Don't want anything changed on my account, as apart from this, it is perfect. :)

Guess the Seacom cable is still broken.

Downloading @ 1.4 KB/s, on a connection that should give me nearly 100x that.

I'm beginning to wonder if going over to Openweb was a good idea.

Ugghh... tried opening that link you posted and that's EXACTLY what I'm experiencing, very irritating. Plus, with NNTP, I have 30 connections running, but only 5 connections will connect together, then after about 10-15 minutes the rest of them will gradually connect, utter bs if you ask me.

I'll stomach it for now, don't know for how long, but I have no other complaints besides the websites that won't fully load.

Weird.... works perfectly fine for me hey.

Froot, for interest sake, where are you located in South Africa ?

Sammy7, when you see this post, also specify where you from. If you're perhaps from Cape Town, then I have something to work with to rectify the problem.

Another question in general quickly for everyone. I'm located in Bloemfontein, but when I run speedtest.net these days, it shows that I'm located in Cape Town :wtf: Previously (month ago) it displayed me more or less in the middle where Bloem would be located + -. Anyone else also get this perhaps ?

I'm in Pretoria.

I've had a few cases where IP's that I trace, display the wrong results.... ie a Jhb IP reports back as a Cape Town IP and so on.

Changed over to VB, now getting 50kb/s. Still slow for after hours.
