Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Hey Friends,

We will have the R1299 account available for order tomorrow morning. It will be an After Hours Uncapped account without the FUP.

Cool, so for only R400 more we can have the exact account we have been using! I know it's not your fault, I'm just pissed off. Anyways you avoided answering my previous questions. In a reply to my email a while ago you said the uncapped express customers with Openweb would not be affected. What happened to this, or did you mean we would be unaffected if we moved to the R1299 account?

I cannot use Alt Binz at all today, it does not even connect. I did contact Mr BEEP who said my line is not synching with the exchange. However my Telkom account is running perfectly? Any ideas??

getting great speed on all protocols using openweb LITE uncapped account, only had it for a few hours but so far i'm impressed...well done to IS and openweb

Just activated my new OpenWeb 384k Lite account for my newly finished DSL line.

So far, so good.

Will report as often as I can remember.
For now, it works exactly as I expected.

So, for now, Thank you OpenWeb.

I've got almost no connection to the news servers. Mail to Keoma is getting ignored, it's been 5 hours since his last response.

I also can not connect to news servers at all.

Doing a speedtest to Miami, I get the following:

And to London the following:

So it seems there is something wrong with traffic to the USA?

EDIT: Emailed Keoma and got an instant reply. "Engineers are attending to the problem."

Can you please test to see if your torrents are shaped?

I usually get full speed when loading a few torrents (the few times I make use of p2p). Now it seems as though torrents are shaped on my Uncapped Lite account.

Just saying... I'm going a bit looney atm, lol.
As soon as I'm done with the important updating stuff, I will kill off the NZB and download a mini Linux or something from a torrent.
Will let ya know as soon as I have anything to report on.

Ok tx.

All torrents are now dead on my account :(

For my second day, I am not impressed with this 'unshaped' account.
I keep struggling to get the connection to initially connect through my router and the speeds are erratic.

So basically with this statement you are clarifying that the 899R account will have a threshold limit, i believe you in the same sentence just said you where not bound by the same FUP. Clarification please ? So lets pay an extra almost 500R so we can download like normal again, until IS decide that the "FUP" free accounts are being abused, and then openweb comes out with a awesome lekker new account at only 56% of your monthly income. Seriously, the ADSL service is just going down hill. Im pretty sure its breaking some ISPA regulations that IS are implementing this threshold yet they are not disclosing this information to the public.

Hey semaphore,

It will not be a threshold limit, it is suggested usage so to speak. The nice thing though is, the effects on Uncapped AH does not mean slow internet. It only means shaping will apply on P2P and torrents. They will not be killed either.

The R1299 account has no limit.

I do apologize for the price, however, our 4Mbps After Hours account has always cost R1299. We have had to find a replacement product, and we did, at no price change.

The R899 is a new introduction to our basket.

Some changes have been made to the system. News, torrents etc should look a bit better now after a router reboot

My NZB is coming in strong at 30-37 KB/s.
Thats pretty damn good... gonna test torrent for ya rq.
brb.

Ok, just to be completely transparent:

Test-downloading (with no intent on completing): BackTrack 4 Final release.
Torrent can be found at any torrent site, or from their home page: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/
Client Used : Azareus. Clean install. Default settings. Not a dang thing changed/tweaked.

From the moment I started, the torrent IMMEDIATELY started out at 21 KB/s
Took about 5 seconds to run up to 37.1 KB/s.

Stayed there SOLID AND CONSISTENTLY for 5 minutes.

Test ended.

Hope that helps you in any way.
So in summation: No, my torrents do not seem to be shaped in any manner whatsoever.
In fact, it seems to come stronger and better than my NZB... o.O

Oh crap, I didn't kill my Comedy Radio while testing.
So, very likely, it would have come down even better.
EDIT-IN: Also had my Google Talk app and PS3 still connected... if that small little kb/s matters to anyone.

I am very seriously impressed at the moment with OpenWeb 384k Lite.
Will keep reporting back on a frequent basis with regards to that.
