Openweb Uncapped Feedback

uhm Openweb's uncapped Lite is that IS service yet on openweb side its fine.

Wonder if they'll do an "afrihost" and move subscribers over to an IS-based service where you're throttled to death on certain protocols and servers except for 3 hours in the middle of the night.

Well to be honest, I did get an IS based account as a replacement based on my requirements and so far I'm really impressed. Downloads off news servers have been flying, HTTP downloads max out and my latency for gaming was purrrfect last night when I tested it for Bad Company 2. So far, no complaints. Speedtest.net tests also yielded full line speed capacity both locally and internationally. Will see how it goes for September. :)

anyone experiencing international problems as of 30 min ago?

Except for the hiccup on Sunday afternoon, no problems here. Currently running a download through FF and its maxing out my 384k line. For the last week or 2 the speeds are probably the fastest I've ever had.

The odd thing for me is. I get about 8-9kbs on my 384 line atm when trying to download anime and my sites are loading slower than usual. Then I test my download speed by trying to download the new ATI drivers and I get 32kbs....

Exactly my problem, most international sites are around 9KB/s but local I get full line speed (38KB/s). Every time I get my port reset and international goes back up to decent speeds, until a few days later and it settles down to 9KB/s again. Only affects the international, I don't understand it.

AnimateX, how exactly do you get your speed back. Mine's been staying like that for quite a while now. Not sure what to do about it. I even began suspecting throttling but I don't believe that I'm in the 20% throttling list

Well, end of my first month with OpenWeb.
Using the Uncapped 384k Lite package, with bandwidth by IS.
I suspected that I might have been shaped 2 times this month. Both times turned out to be other problems and full connectivity was restored in a very timely manner.

No problems so far.
NZB's are a bit bouncy during the day, same with torrent. Speeds range between 15-35KB/s up and down in a matter of seconds and back up again. Kinda like a rollercoaster...
I safely attribute this to traffic congestion, as I definitely do reach decent speeds on certain days.
Weekends are awesome. Downloads and pages running full speed all the time.

NZB's maxing out at 42KB/s and torrents at around 39.something (overhead on torrent being slightly higher, this wasn't unexpected).

My usage for the month, as of right now, starting from 2 August: 27924.95 MB (Total sent and received)

I am very happy with the service, and will continue to provide any feedback as necessary.

Thank you OpenWeb.

PS: Please do something about your "call center"... it really is quite useless as they cannot even access the account to answer any questions...

+1
and turn the volume up

The guy I spoke to didn't know when my account would be activated, whether at midnight or not... couldn't get a proper answer out of him :(
I managed to email their CEO from my phone though and then all was fine!!

As fast as my speeds were last night and all day throughout, at the moment its really slow , getting nothing more than 10KB/s on http download internationally. It fluctuates to about 20, then goes back to sub 10KB/s :(
