Openweb Uncapped Feedback

I'm still awaiting feedback, had PMed MrBeep with my logon details as he requested from us ........ still no feedback as to what is being done.

Hi Friends,

We have spoken to IS, day in and day out. We have pleaded with them. They have indicated that they have reached an acceptable shaping level and cannot change it any further.

I do wish we have our own IPC, but its only the big companies with money to throw around that can make that work.

Luckily the smaller accounts were adjusted, and should perform better.

Sorry guys, we tried our best! You may continue emailing me problems, I will log a fault with IS and send you the ticket number.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

I am currently unable to connect to the Astraweb SSL servers which used to work at the beginning of the month and gave good transfer speeds - is this what IS calls acceptable shaping? Is the shaping of 384k and 4Meg news access to 40KB acceptable considering the price difference? You created an constructive obligation by advertising you where re-selling MWEB accounts, labelled and priced the product the same as MWEB, complained to IS about the accounts and stated that you would not give up until the accounts were the same as MWEBs and now you given up!

Given Up? Who has given up? No-one is giving up from OpenWeb. Sorry.

Is not indicative of ongoing ...

as is IS statement delivered.

Logging tickets don't count, that is an ongoing part of service delivery. Once again thank you for your transparency.

We are not giving up. We are not pursuing the IS route further, no. We are however in discussions with another large network provider (not the M Beast), to provide us with a superior service.

We will keep this thread informed.

Interesting, all the best! Will our existing user accounts be automatically migrated?

Maybe you should have said not the M Beasts as there are two of them and you have already discarded one of them in order to exclude the M's in the market.

With due respect to all concerned. I have had no speed issues with downloads other than Rapidshare seeming to be heavily shaped. That now too has come right. All in all i have never had any issues with Openweb, and they have always responded timeously to my questions.

I used hotfile last night and was getting speeds of +400Kbps. Apart from the RS thing, i'm 100% happy.

Downloading You Tube videos during the day is an impossibility for me, they either hang or timeout. Browsing has has also been slow today.

When I left for work this morning, news would not even connect, torrents dead, and browsing was slow.

That is not shaping, that is a joke. Rather state that the account only works after hours and weekends, and only browse during the weekdays.

Not aimed at Openweb, rather at IS.

Well if Openweb are in discussions with another supplier, let see what they can do about it. Maybe they can offer a better product at the same price. Im not at home during the day so I'm not sure how the speed handles.

Patience is the key.

+1

This is my view:

During the day, IS simply cut off p2p altogether, nothing connects. After hours, speeds are awesome. If they could implement a shaper where your line gets limited to 20k/s for p2p during the day for all users, then go full speed after hours and weekends, I'd be happy.

My account is flying this morning! 400k+ on rapidshare and torrents are at around 300k!!! TY OPENWEB!

News still throttled to 30KB on 4Meg line - clearly not shaping based on torrents at full tilt and Astraweb SSL is blocked - guess they can't allow SSL or news would be at full speed all the time! Clearly not uncapped or 4Meg account as I am blocked from sites and throttled.

Edit: Reboot during the week and lost access to Astraweb SSL and reboot now and access is back

Now explain this:

Torrents using uTorrent over this weekend

OPENWEB "High Bandwidth Unshaped" 30Gb @ R549 = 25-40kbps
AXXESS 4mb Uncapped Shaped @ R496 = 35kbps (first weekend got +200kbps untill 20GB)
AXXESS normal where I pay R59 per gig = 256kbps

All torrents "boom" within the first 5 minutes (my case +265kbps) until "Big Brother" notices you and the turn down the throttle

IS Internet Solutions is the problem. I believe name the culprit by the name. We are paying for a service and therefore have the right to complain about a service.

Hi ronnies,

Please email me your ADSL username so that I can investigate. The unshaped account should not be that low.

Kind regards
MrBEEP
