Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Hey Friends,

We are completing negotiations with a new provider, and if all goes according to plan, we will be sending out a mailer to our clients offering the ability to move away from IS from 1 May to the new network.

This network will offer far superior and consistenly good speeds, which is what our clients have come to expect from an OpenWeb account.

I will keep this thread updated.

I sincerely apologize about this!

Kind regards
MrBEEP

/wonders if this has anything to do with Vodacom's new Metro Ethernet network...

this was koemas reply at 12:42

There was a SAT3 fault this morning causing the problem.

It should come right within the next few minutes.

I emailed him earlier and it appears that I/S does not have enough redundancy besides Seacom (As Keoma said it's the Seacom maintenance which is causing all these).

BS! I'm getting full speeds on my afrihost account. I cancelled my cancellation. Will be staying with them for another month.

Will see what happens on Afrihost after I reach 50gigs next month. If it is ****...hellooo mweb.

Account has been limping along all weekend. Torrents fully shaped 24/7. I topped 200 gigs recently so maybe that has something to do with it?

Not sure if I want to stay on this package next month, but is Mweb really any better?

I have emailed Keoma too many times this month. To his credit he always answers promptly, but not much has changed on my account performance.

Hey Friends,

I am afraid Seacom is the cause of the slow international speeds.

If you are considering leaving us, please reconsider. Our current clients will receive first option to move to our new Upstream provider which will most definitely be a HUGE improvement. More details will be emailed to our clients shortly.

We are hoping to have final word by Wednesday!

Kind regards
MrBEEP

mrBeep would i be able to MLPPP/multi-link with openweb's uncapped ?

news was going at averag speed of about 3kb/s last nite (on my 4 meg line). it could be due to throttling, seeing as how i've managed a couple hundred gigs this month, so i guess i cant really complain as i've got my monies worth :-) but its still damned frustrating :-(

my http downloading from certain places has been brilliant during this Seacom mess.....just my browsing has been rotten

Anyone else have issues with hotfile? Max 10KB/s this side.

Been "iffy" here if that is an accepted term on this forum. I have still been able to browse, and knowing that this is something that effects many 2nd tier ISP's, I am grateful that Openweb don't have all their eggs in the Seacom basket.

I've been getting great speeds, until my account reached its cap earlier :(

I've figured out that if I keep up with my current usage, it will work out cheaper to get uncapped. Now, I'm just waiting to what 4 Mbps uncapped accounts are announced soon :)

So far, I haven't been persuaded to switch to another ISP, and I am keen to stay with OpenWeb. Their service levels are excellent.
