Openweb Uncapped Feedback

I am getting extremely weird slow line speeds today.

I can't seem to get above 50kb/s average. The strange thing is that once in the day I got above 200kb/s and now my average is 50k again. Also it seems that when I'm using torrents and the average is 50K then browsing is slow as well, which is really strange considering that when I do a speed test at the same time I get 3.3mb/s.

I can't figure what's up. It's like the line is good, then bad, but mostly bad.

I'm on a 4mb platinum connection with Openweb.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I feel you there hey.
My upload speed is fine, I'm able to max it out. But where I have been able to run smooth, able to max out my line at any given time, it's running at snail-pace now.
Considering we are on a "better network" I am thinking there are problems somewhere that is outside of the regular loop.

There has to be something wrong somewhere because my line used to be pretty stable and it's not. Keoma did say he got 280k using my account to download a torrent, which I got as well but that was like once off. If I stop the same torrent and start it again then I get slow speeds again. It's almost like a random thing where the speeds are good or bad. Someone must know something.

I see my router logs have been logging a lot of this today:
Code:
Jun 26 04:41:07 user warn dnsprobe[583]: dns query failed
Starting before that time I assume (only x log entries kept) and still continuing up to about an hour ago.
My PPP went down a few times today too.

hi open web uncapped users i have been using uncapped with TRL but their speeds are slow!!!!! so i would like to know how much have you guys downloaded so far??? ive done 52 gigs

Dryburn, I've done 50GBs plus minus as well this month so far and I have to say speeds have been flying for me on my 384k gold uncapped. No complaints whatsoever and I'm really happy with my account's performance. :)

How's your speeds been today?
You can see mine 3 posts up...

Im not sure how many gigs I've done, but I've averaged about 2GB a day - haven't felt like pushing it 24/7, it gets old.

Froot my speeds have been really good the last couple of days, infact the whole month, but browsing has been flying for me. I'm also running out of things to download, will probably take it slow next month :D

Take note that I have an openweb gold mweb based account, and its light years better than any IS offering I've had from Openweb in the past.

:)

Yeah my OW Gold account is IS based, but is light-years better than the mweb one I had and the regular IS one.
It's only today that it's been crap.

I LOL'd, yours is just the exact opposite of mine. Oh well, I guess if it either account works good for us, then all is good I suppose. ;)

And still down. Mr Beep, is there a radius failure again? It's been almost 10 hours already :(

Hi froot,

All is clear on our side! Please contact Telkom on 0800 375 375 and log an urgent fault if your problem persists.

Kind regards
MrBEEP

Hey Mr Beep. The internet is on again.
I checked last night to be sure - I was able to connect via my Afrihost account. The OW account kept sending incorrect user/pass errors.

Sounds like a Telkom backbone fault. The link that carries the IS stream ws probably down at your exchange.

Is it still required to sign a 12-month contract when selecting the Mweb account instead of the IS account?

Same problem!
OW Gold 384, getting 55% of linespeed.
Checked another ISP account, 100% linespeed (so it's not me).

It's stuff like this that makes me weary of getting gold for myself.
