Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Hi Randhir,

I am sorry, I do not see a question in any of the above posts. Please re-ask them. If I have missed them, I do apologize.
Kind regards
MrBEEP

I'd like to hear their response regarding why this is a problem (it doesn't happen on any other ISP's I've tried), and why they keep trying to convince me that the problem is on my end if this is happening to other people.

Question was indirect, but definitely meant for OpenWeb. Also, I'd like to know of any solutions for this (it's not only me) - short of rebooting the router, which I have done every time I called/emailed and was instructed to. Rebooting the router does nothing to help.

Thanks.

anyone else getting terrible download speeds atm?

Seems like it`s every night now

MrBEEP I am also quite interested to know the answer to Randhir's question.

Randhir, I have emailed you.

Sometimes the problem is account side, sometimes it is Telkom side, sometimes it is port side. We go through each step when troubleshooting. Resetting the port is the easiest and usually the most effective solution, thus it is always tried a few times before moving on to the next option. In Randhir's case, we have already moved on to a different network test. I await the results of this.

Hi MrBeep I see you guys are launching a new uncapped service by August, and from what I can understand its mostly unshaped and therefor be perfect for multimedia use, like gaming and streaming.

Is there any possibility that one can Trail this account before making a final decision?

Hi Degaron

Please mail me on 2 August and I will be able to provide you with a 4 hour trial.

Hey, thanks for the response. I haven't had much time to test it, but from what I can see, it seems to be working.

Thanks.

I know they have a standard uncapped package as well, priced on par with Mweb.

Considering my reason for leaving, I want to bump my speed to 4mbps, not to download more, but to surf the web better. We are two users at home, both enjoying a little farmvilling. It is really a pain at 384.

So what to do? The standard uncapped is powered by IS. The gold is powered by either Mweb/Vodacom. I cannot afford atm more that the R540.

So why pay R200 more for the Mweb network when you can buy a spot at them directly at the lower price?

And when you put it like that, it becomes rather a moot point.

All us appreciate all the support and help from Mr Beep. It is really great. The problem for me however is, that since I moved to Openweb, I had more support issues the last 3 months that in all the time that I had ADSL (3 odd years).

That to me is a problem. Internet should just work. You should not have to email 3 times a month because you have issues to connect or a port that is blocked or for a new account because your old one stop working...

I am at the moment either going to buy some Afrihost bundles or Mweb uncapped.

It would have been really awesome if there was slower speed packages instead of this 384, 512 and then quantum leap to 4mbps...

Hi straatkat,

We have just launched a 1024k Uncapped for R459, unshaped :)

If there is a user on Standard uncapped that download periodically from News Servers, please contact me and let me know how your experience have been.

Well, I started this month, but I can't really tell since this is the month of Seacom bull**** :erm:

On the Lite Uncapped ADSL 384 packages, how much bandwidth would I need to download to hit the 20% top user bracket? Using around 14-20 gigs a month on my Mweb account and very interested to switch to help out my gaming. I understand the 20% varies but would I be in danger? If not I'm cancelling MWeb today :p

Sorry, my searches have failed and I can't read through this whole thread.

Hi burn,

You will definitely not reach the 20% :)

Mr Beep

I am still stuck in limbo. The lite looks like too lite for me, I would guess that I would download in the region of 60 - 90 gigs, mostly from news servers. So I would definitely hit that 20%.

My news server does not allow more than 1024, so even with the added speed of the line, i would have a potential to download more, but then again, I am scratching the barrel to find interesting stuff to download.

What account would you recommend? Lite, normal or gold?

I always recommend Gold, as it is thew best CONSUMER uncapped account we sell.

However, the 1024k Lite should suit your needs.
