Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Hi Guys

I am currently on Afrihost 384k uncapped, and the performance is appalling (I am averaging 5-15kbps on torrents, at night), so i have cancelled for next month, and am trying to decide whether to go with MWEB or Openweb.
1) I will be happy to average 30kbps download for torrents (overnight), and was wondering if I would need the Gold uncapped to do that, or will Standard uncapped be enough?
2) At some stage i think that you could choose IS or MWEB backbone for Openweb uncapped accounts. Can you still do that for Standard and Gold uncapped? And which backbone would be better? Afrihost uses IS and they seem pretty useless.

I would really like to go with Openweb, MrBeep seems to make a huge effort to provide a great service.
Thanks

AFAIK it's only the GOLD that lets you choose the backbone and they have more backbones than just IS and MWEB. Neology and Vodacom come to mind as well.

OW 4meg Gold mweb unusable for WoW today. Lag spikes so bad that i had to cancel raids tonight. Getting silly now.

Ask then to switch your backbone. You can always go back to mweb after their IPC upgrades are done.

Loving OW Gold 4mb on the Vodacom backbone
Do you use this account for downloading from the main file sharing sites IE RS, Hotfile and Megaupload and if you do are you finding the speeds shaped to the same extent as MWEB's shape to these sites IE roughly 40kBps during office hours to anything between 100-200kBps from 11pm to 8am...
TIA

I don't know how it to compares to MWEB shaping but yes, I do notice that my downloads from Megaupload are shaped during office hours (it's generally around 30kBps on my 384 Gold account if (I am lucky) after office hours although today, for about two hours, I was at the very exciting pace of 40-42kBps)

That's pretty good on a 384kbps line.

Anyone using the 4mb package able to offer feedback on this aspect?

I use newservers. I have at times started nzbs in what would be prime time and have seen them go at 300kB/s. I am not doing too much traafic but I would say on average I see more than 150kB/s during the day. In the evenings (from 6pm when I get home) 300kB/s+.

Loving it.

Sounds good, thanks for the info... You were with MWEB prior weren't you?

yes was with mweb. but this is only the first 10 days of the account. but i am guessing the premium for the openweb gold is where mweb should have priced their 4meg account. Given the price sensitive general nature of South Africans i hope that the same speeds will be largely kept.
