On 4Mb Uncapped Gold :/

Was running WAY worse about an hour ago, couldn't get more than 30KB/s on HTTP.

Ummm digichilli ?

Wow, guess OpenWEb wasn't kidding when they said GOLD works across a number of networks...

Is everyone's international fine? Downloads are fine on local but browsing on international is slooooow and images sometimes just don't want to load at times

That's actually not Digichilli, but BCSNet backbone.

I have been through 4 different backbone providers via Openweb: Internet Solutions, Mweb, Vodacom Business and BCSNet. I have to say VB seems to be the best out of the 3 uncapped backbone they currently offering. I mainly do HTTP downloading and we all know what's the story with I/S. BCSNet is quite slow when I tested it just now. Let's hope the VB network will stay as good as now.

Thanks Keoma.

Well I already asked Koema to switch backbones, but nothing materialized. Maybe I'll ask again as I'd at least like to try something else that has a chance of being better.

Hey Stonecold,

1) Are your router stats ok? Have you checked for any noise on the line?
2) Does a traceroute to a local site show any large delays during the trace?
3) Have you mailed Keoma and maybe tried having your port reset?

I am also get very poor speeds on the IS backbone on gold. Keoma moved me onto the platinum but I am still only getting around 80kb/s on international http, local is running at around 5mb/s. I ran some tests on our uncapped accounts at work and they are also giving very poor speeds and latency to Europe of around 800ms.

SMOKEN!!!!! :D

Well seeded torrents running at between 700-850kBps...

Openweb Uncapped after hours account (on trial)...

This is [-]poor[/-] pure bliss!!!! :) 3gigs an hour is easily doable, that takes around 20 hours on a 384kbps line, just to put it into perspective... :)

Packet loss on international :(

Ping statistics for 80.91.249.69:
Packets: Sent = 25, Received = 22, Lost = 3 (12% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 290ms, Maximum = 1188ms, Average = 373ms

Whats a good ping?
Says my line quality is D, not sure if thats general bad quality or normal for South African customers???

Getting an amazing 8 kb/s all day, with packet loss :/

Edit: 300ms is "good" for servers in Europe, some can be as low as 250/260, though since being switched away from the Neology backend I haven't seen pings that low.

Right now I am more concerned with having any kind of decent ADSL for atleast a week at a time.
