Hey Friends,

There is currently a major network fault on VB. Engineers are attending. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

ETA: 2 hours

Skype is down Worldwide currently i'm afraid.

Is there any known problems with IS backbone at the moment?

Thanks

Thanks, MrBEEP!

Yeah, I'm using XFire's VOIP for now but damnit... I want Steam running

I can connect to Steam with ease and my internet is flying both locally and internationally. No problems on my side.

I have a 4mb VB account :)

No idea why my Steam is giving grief. Have tried everything but it refuses to LISTEN! ARRRGGH... Frikkin' hate Steam

Awesome, thanks for the notification dude! :D

MrBeep, I beg and implore you to please work out a solution for the long-standing Youtube issues I and many others Vodacom Business users experience. Please, it's utterly pathetic to have to wait and buffer a standard definition video, let alone a 720p or 1080p video on a 4096 account! Other services are usually always 100%.

I'd really rather not jump ship to another ISP or another backbone, the VB accounts are spectacular value for money, but Youtube is a critical tool for me, as I often use it for guitar lessons and other educational things.

I've noticed something similar, actually. Sometimes YouTube vids take aaaaaaaaaaaaages to load up. I actively avoid YouTube unless I really feel like nails-against-chalkboard frustration :p

Just came here to see if there was a problem with @vb... seems there is... sitting at 185KB/s

I think I must be taking all the VB youtube bandwidth :p, I just tested a 1080p video without having to wait for any buffering. HTTP is also running at 460KB/s

Browse Youtube more, it's very unreliable for me, over a period of say, a week - the performance is nearly always poor, especially on videos that are not cached locally (new feature).

My other connections are fine. It's just Youtube, Gametrailers and various other streaming sites for me.

Hello nihilist,

Kindly email me: [email protected]

There is definitely a localized fault which I would like to help you resolve, as Youtube is running superbly on Gold.

Seems the port reset was only 'n temp fix. Back to 9-11kbs on downloads

:(
Speeds on http are really really really bad lately.
Grabbing files off http seem fine though, for some reason, as with speedtests. Browsing is just lame.

Edit: This is VB on Gold btw.

My browsing is fine on my side, but downloading at these speeds are a pain in the ass

Update: Speed up to about 20kbs.... About half I should be getting

Hello froot,

Please email me: [email protected]

Gold is not running badly. Gold is actually running under capacity currently, as folks are away on holiday.

The problem is localized to your account or setup. We will find the problem. Please mail me.

I'm planning on changing over to OpenWeb's 384Kb Gold uncapped at the end of this year, what I'd like to know is how much data will I be allowed to download before my line gets throttled?

Thanks.

No limit, but depending on your backbone you will get different degrees of shaping. For example, on the Vodacom Business backbone, torrents are a no-go. Personally, this is fine for me because I just Skype basically 24/7 and play online.

MrBEEP will better be able to suggest a backbone for you depending on your needs, methinks.
