openweb uncapped great!!

Openweb with their good products and gr8 representation on forums.
Cybersmart good cheap products.
Webafrica good products and good representation.
Axxess for being the ones that actually took the beast to court.

Who did Axxess take to court? Thought that was AYCE.

AHHHHHHHH the pain, the agony!

My competition uncapped account from openweb just ended(the day i buy a new 320gig,lol!). Imagine this, you have been on crack/heroine for a month straight and your supply just stops *shivers*

So, im going to sell my computer so i can afford uncapped ;) LoL

But i have to say, that was the best experience of my life, awesome! If i could afford it, i would be buying an openweb uncapped instead of writing this post,haha...

So my only other option is to move to the UK to feed my hunger for bandwidth ;)

Thanks MrBeep :)

I think it was DotCo (AYCE) but the resolution was barely mentioned. Someone caved.

I think the agreement they were contesting was only valid till a certain time and that time period lapsed so there was no legal basis for continuing.

It was indeed DOTCO, they reasoned that Telkom had to see out there contract period. and could not just change the system whenever the feel like it.

How many concurrent sessions can a 512 uncapped account allow?

that connection with the router and not pc's through the router ?
That's the number of pppoe sessions that can be established concurrently using the account details.

e.g.

allowed: 1 router establishes a pppoe connection and that single router provides internet access for 20 PCs.
NOT allowed: 2 routers or modems each trying to establish a pppoe connections.
NOT allowed: 1 router in bridge mode establishing 2 pppoe connections concurrently (someone will have a reason for trying it)

What would I need if I recently arrived in SA and am staying at friends for a few months until I buy a place and they have their 3 gig Telkom account - which they do not want or need to change, but I need uncapped? Can I go through their Telkom line and get my own OpenWeb uncapped account? Do I need to go through their router? Would it interfere with their Intertent use? This capped Internet problem is really driving me crazy!!!! I can't call my clients on Skype, download training videos, you name it.

Yes, all the above you said is possible. You can share the DSL line, and you are able to use an uncapped internet connection like the above from OpenWeb. If you prepared to pay :)

Openweb charges R1369 for 512k uncapped. One can almost justify spending that kind of money each month, but R2632 for 1024k uncapped is hard to justify.

At +-50KB/s one could theoretically download 130Gb/Month on the 512k.

Why can't Openweb come up with a product for 1024k connections that hard caps international at say 100Gb? They could tack on 30Gb local and Openbrowse and charge a simlar price to 512k uncapped.

Alternatively, on the 512k, you can probably download a maximum of 5Gb per day. So how about a 1024k product that is capped at 5Gb per day. This has the benefit of spreading usage evenly over the month, with a use-it or lose-it kicker for the ISP.

I'm pretty sure that a high volume, pseudo-uncapped product for 1024k that is priced similarly to 512k uncapped product would be very popular indeed.

AFAIAA, OpenWeb does not "come up with the products" - they just resell what IS provide.

As for the uncapped with limited usage scenario - it already (kinda) exists in the form of the IS uncapped express accounts.

How does it exist in that form? AFAIK the express accounts just don't have static IP's?

Yip, this is what I wanted to try. My sister has a 4Meg line with an 512K uncapped. I wanted to setup 1 session for the other companies at her office on the uncapped and then a second capped Saix account for her company with local going through the uncapped and international through the Saix capped.

Does anyone know if a NetGear router supports bridged (to a specific IP Address) and a PPPOE connection for all other IP addresses simultaneously?

Very wrong. The majority of our products cannot simply just be "resold" by any old ISP.

We work closely with our engineers and with IS to ensure that we create exciting and innovative products.

That's great. So can we look forward to an exciting, inoovative and affordable product for 1mb connections as I suggested earlier in the thread?
