Openweb, why you do a client so?

If i'm on contract cell with a "limit" of R200,I phone my overseas friends for hours on end and end of the month my bill comes in at R2k. Fine the limiter should have worked, but I still made the phonecalls didn't I?

Not 100% sure I agree with you there. The fee there is directly linked to the failed system. This is more a case of a conscious decision to purchase additional services instead of querying the fact that the original service was faulty.

There is no % bar. Have you ever seen an IS control panel? I'm guessing not. Please refrain from posting in the future.

You're not going to improve the situation by just blasting everyone who doesn't agree with you completely.

Well, clearly its not the exact same situation. But it is definitely comparable. Its a similar instance of a user making a mistake based on an ISPs mistake. But as PsyWulf said, the ISP has to be limited in its liability due to "user error snowballing".

Still, I suppose in the interest of good publicity, it would be worthwhile for OpenWeb to try and resolve the issue. Although it sometimes seems to me that it doesn't matter whether the user is in the right or the wrong...its more about who can post on MyADSL the fastest ;)

Wow you guys are jerks. This is stemming back from the 20th of October, by the way.

If you turn up a one way street but realise it was up the wrong direction due to a sign being upside down, do you blame yourself too? You turned the wheel of the car! It must be the snowball effect.

I was giving an example you plebian. If you cannot post intelligently then try not to k

Let me put this in simple language - buyer beware. Kthx

I suggest you inform ICASA of this. Why is it that, when dealing with Telcos, the customer is always wrong. Until a court says otherwise!

Hmm, it would be interesting if you took this to the small claims court citing the ceo as the respondent!

Indeed but the steak example wasn't working as intended :)

The simple fact is he bought more BW under a faulty assumption, the reason for the assumption is in fact the provider's fault and that should be looked into, however the 3gig he bought afterwards wasn't a technical error or a broken clickfinger

Sorry but I can't imagine just blindly staring at a % bar and then blundering ahead and spending my money but maybe i'm just stingy and like to be sure I used as much as I did :)

If you had forgotten and bought a topup the onus still rests with you - you clicked to buy the 3gigs extra without checking

Usage services rest on the user to check and double check and triple check

What a silly example omw, that must be the worst example ever lol.

The system failed and your cellphone network would not be allowed to charge you, regardless if you made the calls.

He did check and it said he was capped, now wtf must he go check!!!!!!

Explain to me how exactly it is a "user error" when the ISP did not upgrade the account in the first place?

As i stated in my previous post. Is it up to the user to question the competency of openweb and double checked to make sure they did their job properly? Is this not what you pay openweb for? to do their job properly?

If openweb did their job properly to begin with, this would never have happened.

As far as Im concerned, if the user in question did not exceed his 7GB cap, they should refund him or at least pass a credit.

As a company, you can't bill a customer for a product / service you have not provided them with and then take additional money from the customer when you were in error to start with. THEN still deny them any form of refund when the customer finds out that you as a company have made a mistake. Then to provide the customer with a lame excuse like "If we refunded customers for everytime we made a mistake, we would go out of business"
To me this is bad business ethic.

I've had many trouble-free months with OpenWeb, but fail to see how Keoma cannot just say "fine, i'll bill you for a 5GB next month and you'll recieve a 7GB"?
In my opinion Openweb should award a bit of a "freebee" for the mix-up and save face that way - better from a marketing, keeping clients perspective.

That isnt in question,OP wants refund for the 3gig he bought afterwards

what I cant understand is this, surely you have a rough idea of what your bandwidth usage is through out the month and if you buy extra bandwidth for that month and still get capped at round about the same time as usual. Surely you would get a bit suspicious and perhaps just take a peak at your usage total and daily download totals to see where you used all your bandwidth just to check that you have actually fully used what you have paid for.

Secondly, send a pm to keoma, I, like many others have been using openweb hassle free for a long time and I am sure he would be able to sort your problem out.

P.s. please remember that ISP's are also business's and have to make money so they can't just go around handing out free bandwidth to everyone that has a problem in order to keep forum posters happy.

My bandwidth usage is never constant, so it was quite possible that I had used 7GB by the 20th of the month. Some months I only use 3GB, some 10GB. I get what you're saying but that's irrelevant to whether my account was capped and the control panel saying it was capped.

I've been in direct contact with Keoma regarding this matter since the 20th. If you read my original post you will see I quoted him directly. I doubt sending him a PM on this forum is going to have any further effect.

I also understand the concept of a business, but a business comes with responsibilities and supplying a customer with incorrect information causing them to purchase other products when they didn't need to is their fault and they need to take the hit for it.

Yes I am an openweb User

Pretty easy to spot the usage numbers above the status.
The 3gig I wouldn't go as far as to refund in any way. The 2gig diff between paid for and used account however....

As I understand it, this _was_ done? The client wants a refund for money he spent, himself, afterwards.

You'd be surprised. Practically every thread in this forum is some or other user waiting for a handout for something.

Why are you acting like I knew that the full 7GB wasn't used up when I bought the 2nd account? I saw I was capped, I closed the window and bought another account, as I usually do 2 or 3 times a month.

Seriously dude, what is your problem?

If you have a complaint, but aren't willing to take any criticism, then why post it publically? Just because we're not part of the army of people agreeing with you, suddenly PsyWulf and I must have a problem with you?

I assumed you were offered the 7GB account or the 2GB refund carried over for the following month?

After buying the 3GB account and realising I was incorrectly capped, I emailed Keoma and he contacted IS who "un-capped" the 7GB account. 15% of the 3GB account was used at this point and I started using the 7GB account again in hopes that Keoma would see what happened and offer me a refund for the 3GB account.

Nothing was refunded or carried over.
