Well I'm done with WebAfrica, so hopefully Openweb will fill the void with some new packages that pleases my router ;)
 
hey guys,
sorry for being ignorant but whats everyone so excited for? im never up to date ...slacker i know. are we talking about uncapped prices dropping hectically :D ?

Hey Friends

The packages that will initially launch will be Uncapped ADSL with slower speeds during the day, and 384k Unshaped Fibre speeds after hours. There will be no thresholds whatsoever.

There will also be a new 384k - 10GB package launching, with minimal shaping during the day, and full, unshaped ADSL speeds during office hours.

Once these packages prove to be a success, we will introduce a new gaming specific package.

Time frame: Early August, IF Telkom refrains from delaying installation any further.

All in all, very exciting.

How is that better than the current 384kb fibre offerings? They are also slowed down during the day, and no thesholds at night? If there are no thresholds, why the slow down?

Lets just wait a little before we all wet ourselves with excitement....we know what normally happens to our expectations in good old bandwidth stricken SA;)

So, the gaming specific package will be introduced later, once the early August packages prove successful. :)

The slowdown in the day is because the entire SA workforce and netizen community is online. After work, the net becomes quieter. This is the time for which great packages can be sold for cheap. The "taps can be opened". :)

Thresholds, as we all know, are a con.

It is to limit your potential bandwidth usage.

There should be no more caps, shaping or thresholds.

Our grandchildren won't believe that we fell for such b***s**t... :erm:

/me is in the market for uncapped (sick of forking out R1,200 anyway for crappy caps) so I guess /me will wait a bit longer to find out more :p

Just please - no contracts, no "one month in advance" and no "shaping!" :D
