Opera refreshes

Downloaded the 64 bit Linux version.
Flash, gxine and acroread plugins are working.
Looks good so far :D.

Have been using Opera since V5 (I think). Stuck with them, warts and all - never used their e-mail client though...strange...

AS always, I'm impressed with Opera. Am going to give their E-mail client a try and see what it has to offer :D

+1 Opera!

Been using Opera since 3.5 (when I was in high school) - I love the afrikaans language pack for it :-) Mouse gestures is also nice.
The reason why I preffer Opera over Firefox is the works out-of-the-box factor. No need to install any extensions to do anything.

I've been using Opera Mini and Mobile for years. I'm also on 64 bit Ubuntu. After getting annoyed with Firefox I installed Opera two days ago and I'm really impressed with 9.6. It handles those pages built for IE quite well (Firefox couldn't). If it had addons it would be perfect. The cache features are excellent, they help save bandwidth and actually work (unlike Firefox which just reloads almost everything anyway). Forget Chrome, IE, aand Firefox, Opera is now the coolest browser. It actually makes browsing the net, even on a slow connection, quite enjoyable. Oh and the syncing with Opera Mini is just brilliant.

Anyone know how come the spellchecker is included in the Linux install but in Windows the spellchecker is a seperate install?

The GNU/Linux version appears to use aspell which is fairly standard in most Linux distros.
I'm guessing the Windows version also uses aspell, (I know MikTeX uses it), which is definitely not included with Windows :D.

I've been using Opera for a long time now. Would like to see how well the Link function works across my laptop and home machine.

I noticed this the other when i tried FF in Linix. It was the first time i had used another browser for more than a few days. Out-Of-The-Box - Opera is pretty darn good. FF is really lacking.

That is one perspective. I like Firefox because it is so extensible. So they ship the minimum of features and then let you choose how you want the rest to work by giving you the choice of thousands of plugins. That way I don't have to bother with stacks of features that I have no use for and so would just bloat the browsing experience for me.
