[Opinion] SONA 2019 Thread

How is he going to be voted out come December? you clearly have no idea about how the power dynamics work within a party like the ANC, let's take KZN as an example, the party's Provincial chairperson is now backing Ramaphosa, he has the Zuma camp so worried that they now no longer want him to be premier. Things ahave changed a lot from how they were at that elective conference. It is not as simple as you would like us to believe.

What about one of Zuma's biggest supporter Mbalula? Have you seen how he treats uBaba these days? Shameless...
The women's league have gone silent and Oros has developed a conscience. If we were to organise another ANC elective conference you would be very surprised at the results, it won't be that close contest it was the previous time.

if people more clearly understood (the) political reality, within the ANC, there would be less uninformed utterances. Reality is : no other party has the support that the ANC enjoys.., got to work with what we have...a stronger CR within the party, is a benefit to the whole country.

decent speech mr president. a breath of fresh air. dont agree with some points but ok.

need to see it in practice. talk is cheap.

Rather a coherent speech, given by someone who knows how to deliver a speech. The content? Well the same old rubbish.
And did anyone notice the absence of Zuma?
Only useful thing that came out of it was the election date 8th May 2019, a Wednesday.

Wonder what the deal with Malema was to keep him and his hooligans in check?

The EFF were in full damage control mode after the speech when asked about this, they probably realised that the Zuma era tactics are not going to help this time.

Malema & co held quiet as

1. CR complied with the donation thing,
2. Given the above, causing ruckus that kicks them out will not allow them to be present/partake in the Q&A. Doing so before the elections is dumb..

I don't understand how he complied? did they not demand a press conference where they would ask him questions? I distinctly remember them saying if he does not give them a chance to ask question they would have to ask the questions at SONA. It does look like the EFF is fast running out of ideas and and they saw that their usual parliament disruption is not going to get them many admirers this time.

He's answered the questions though - given a detailed explanation of how he didn't know what the funds were for - so explaining his "lying to parliament".

I still think he needs to account for it though. It's pure corruption.

President Cyril Ramaphosa's State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday night "sodomised" the hopes of the country, little-known new political group Christians of South Africa (COSA) said in a statement released on Friday.

"Without fixed deadlines or practical commitment, the address was engineered to appease the gallery and silence critical people-centred voices. Today's SONA was a refurbished, tried and tested pillow talk of the year 2019. The new dawn is yet again falsified - SONA sodomised our hopes for tomorrow," said pastor Derick Mosoana, COSA president.
