One only has to read this bit to realise the EIU representatives spent all their time in Point road (cheking i-reddyness) instead doing what they were supposed to.

On a segmental basis, SA performed best in the government policy and vision category, with a score of 7.05, placing it in joint first place with Israel in the MEA region

The study by the Economist Intelligence Unit and IBM evaluates the information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure of 69 countries as well as their economic, political and social assets, and the ability of consumers, businesses and governments to use ICT to their benefit.

If IBM (read sales pitch) had a finger in this study how independent is it?

With government investing in IT(read willing buyer), surely someone must be praising them to close a deal...let us wait for the announcement of government's big deal closed with IBM in the future...
