I have had dsl four about 5 months and find that my international bandwidth gets cut in about the 2nd week. Our dsl line is shared amongst 3 users and I have just recently setup a squid proxy(and socks etc) to try and maximize the usage we get from our 3gigabytes international.

I would like to here how other people are making the most out of their international bandwidth.

During my search to setup squid proxy I discovered that a lot of countries have initiatives to increase the use of proxy servers and thereby reduce the use of international bandwidth and increase speeds... …Isn’t that the answer for this country where local bandwidth is affordable and international bandwidth is expensive.

I simply use two accounts, one for local and one for international, this means I have two servers, and a PAC script for IE so that me and my users by defauly use the local box for local stuff and the other box for intl stuff. The default gateway on all the client pc's is the local traffic server box, if users want to use their intl bandwidth, most programs support a SOCKS proxy server... so they just tick the box and fill in the name of intl bandwidth server. Thats my way of getting around it.
