Oral contraceptive for men?

Also, how easy would it be to reproduce CATSPER1 in a pill form?
 
There are several other male contraceptives that have been in development for many years. It seems unlikely though that any of them will make it to market for a long time.

There have been large increases in the number of breast cancer cases since the introduction of the female contraceptive pill so any male contraceptive will need to be tested extensively before release.

The latest research seems to indicate that vasectomies may increase the probability of developing a type of dementia (primary progressive aphasia - PPA) at an early age which could result in a large drop in the number of such procedures in the future.

The increased numbers of cancer exhibited have been in women who have been on the pill for a long period of time. ie. 10 years. I would imagine taking any medication for that period of time would increase your chances of a number of illnesses.
 
There is also the small pebble in the shoe option.

Total fail. Unless the world is overrun by metrosexual men in tight jeans, the average guy would probably feel "impotent" if he knows he can't impregnate the thing on the other end of his wang.

I'm not saying they're wrong, and as far as I know breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, but I am always wary of the results of meta-analyses. Meta-analysis is all very well, but is dependent on the studies being analysed themselves being reliable and valid. In addition stating increased risk of disease as a percentage is meaningless to the general public. If your chance of getting a particular disease in 1 in 100 billion, then even a 1000% increased risk would be no reason for any concern, but it sounds very scary.

I beg to differ, most men are even more scared about an accidental pregnancy than you are. If you don't believe me go tell your boyfriend right now that you are a month late and watch him squirm.

I've been in one or two relationships in which I would have felt more comfortable if I was the one taking care of the birth control.
