Orange a fifth mobile operator in SA?

Orange Horizons, a unit of french based mobile operator Orange says that if it had access to spectrum, it would become mobile network operator (MNO) tomorrow.

Yeah why? Their handset prices are pretty good, if we can pay them off on contract I would be very happy.

They had a bit of a go at SA mobile operator prices, so I whizzed off to their Botswana website to have a look

Their call rates are quite a bit more expensive than SA
Their full blackberry bundle on prepaid is 2 to 3 times (129 pula and 149 pula for the complete and absolute packages) the price of the SA price of R59
A 1gb package cost 600 pula. That is more than R600 (pula is slightly stronger than the rand)

Well, judging from my experiences here, they are absolutely terrible. Clueless French.

Things will be very different in SA. They will have to recover costs on a special relationship with the South African government which will be worked into pricing - the right regulatory framework.
