Hi all

I am getting orange box via Kalahari, now once installed does it require a huge update ?

ya ... how do i play offline ... annoying ... always says i "cant do this operation in offline mode" .... wtf ... i remembered steam being a pain ... still is ...

i am getting mine from the same place tom... not keen to have to update and mainly getting it for TF2, but if thats whats required, then so be it i guess..

Is internet still required for Valves games, specifically the Orange Box?

I'd like to actually buy some of their things but I'm not paying for anything that requires an internet connection.

That would be a yes I think

Buy it. Then download a cracked version :)

As far as i can remember, you need to have all updates and then to have played the game at least once in online mode. But that was back in the day of HL2, might have changed the rules.

Also try unplugging your network cable before starting steam, sometimes it gets confused on it's connections

The console version is stick in and go, no additional anti-piracy checks etc Same with BioShock.

That's one of the big console advantages.

Just finished watching the GT review of this game...I want it...I want it now.

The whole Half Life 2 series and more for the price of one game!

Console version's of games don't look as good as PC version tho :p

I wonder when Ep3 comes out if they are going to do the same thing? ROFL! the Blue box!! too bad they had the Black Box cancelled :(

With the cost of bandwidth in this country it would be more like "Then buy the cracked version" lol, I don't plan on paying twice.

I bought the orange box but honestly, i'm trying to find a cracked version, it'll be easier to use than the original version.

Do you have to download updates on the console version?
Yes - popped in the Orangebox disk for the first time yesterday and was informed there was an update I needed to download.

If you have an 786MB 8800GTX or playing games on a PS2 then I would agree but otherwise not.

Played the water canal level last night on my XBOX and my Geforce 6600 or 7600 would not be able to manage those kind of water effects without slowing down.

7th generation console visuals except the Wii are very close to what a gamer PC can do.

Frankly, after what I went through to install the eagerly awaited HL2 at the time, I'll never do it again. I also found it mildly disappointing. Look around for Far Cry launched the same year - it's a much better game.

Who doesn't have an internet connection yet?

You either buy the original game...download the 50MB of patches......

Or download the 4GB cracked unpatched game.
