oh, get off that high horse, most of us here, grew up in south africa, and know, that people use the phrases "stay with your own people" , or "look after your own people" or "you are with your people" as a euphamism for racist practices

So, to prefer the company of people of the same culture, who understand your references and metaphors, is racist?

ok, here goes...I am on their mailing list, out of curiosity for what I consider to be my race.

First things first, beautiful self-sufficient place, and I really do think they will make it in the end,

re: I.T. many people live there and do their work online, web designers etc. I'm not sure on the connectivity options, but they seem to manage ok,

crime: some bloke got shot a few months ago in a domestic dispute with another bloke, nothing major, but what you would expect would inevitably happen amongst people anywhere,.

some girl was alienated last year or so because she had a man in the house who wasnt her husband, but that is also sorted now, the place is slowly maturing and figuring things out for themselves.

property isnt too expensive at all, 500k gets you something. land is plentiful, but not all of ti has mains or sewerage.

they have a recorded radio interview of around one hour available, or i can make it available

for property, go here

I saw the property I want on there ;)

Rivier side plot for R 200k doubt you will find that any other place ;) This is the reason I googled the more about the place and landed up here :D

Anyway, I also found out there is some strict acceptance policies in place?
But no idea what that means, do I need to be interviewed by the major or something

Most likely (and I am saying this not to be an ass but to provide information).. religious and political vetting.

I would love to know how this turns out though.

True I assume.

Just feels like one needs to prepare for an interview to buy a property  Aint my money good enough for them? I am white and I am Afrikaans. But if I need to go and prove it to someone before I'm even considered just sounds stupid no matter how cheap the property is.

Are you a TrueAfrikkkaner (tm) though? You might not subscribe to the same religious beliefs they do (even if you are a white Afrikaner Christian).. remember they a click.. so you have to be a specific type of white Afrikaner christian.

I got a few friends who have family members there, its basically a nice place if you like doing ****oll or heating koeksisters.

Exactly what I'm worried about....

I want to buy land, and pay their builders to build me a property which I can use once a year and also some of my family members and my wife's family if they want to go there from time to time.

Now my point is this. I won't be staying in the town for now at least. Don't know what the future holds but I will own property there. Now if one looks at the property and then building costs lets say R 500 - 600k. Which is all revenue for the town.

It's confusing :o

So maybe I should have a VF+ member ship card or something before I can buy property there.... pretty stupid I think.

You find that stupid, but a white only town in Africa sits well with you?

Yes, is there a problem with it?

A Problem with my buying and building a property which I know will be safe?
Seriously, I find it a bit strange why it is viewed strange to live with people of your own culture....

Why not? There are villages in Hungary where there is a 100% minority living there. All around Europe in fact (Spaniards in France, Serbs in Croatia, Slovakians in Serbia, Russians in Ukraine etc etc). What's so wrong with a white village in Africa? It's their choice...

Well I suppose it depends on those 'entrance criteria'. Could a non-white person ever be allowed in?
