I have a problem with what "might be expected of me" to live there. I couldn't care less if non whites are allowed or not. I am the one that needs to stay there with my family from time to time.

nah you don't most of the people I know from orania is NG, some are quite konservative though, but you need that type of religion to fit in there and besides they are a nice bunch, they complain about the country every now and then, but their koeksisters are awesome :D
It is really that typical old Afrikaner feeling when you go there.

they would look at him quite skeef :>, they are 'allowed ' to be there, but why would a none-white person want to live in the middle of nowhere and not fit in?

Do I HAVE to attend church there though? Or is religion a personal choice for everyone there?

I have this picture in my head of an Old Mining town we stayed on growing up. Well back then it was whites only and the kids would ride bicycles in the streets, play outside till 21:00 22:00 at night with no problems.

However everyone did their own thing, no religious sect or anything. If that is what I'll find in Orania then I'll get the property there. If I'm bound by certain laws and petty things I know I'm not allowed to have black labourers and so forth that is fine. But I don;t want to be forced to go to church every Sunday when I'm there and have to attend church funtions and so forth.....

The laws are ok. Saturdays you have to sleep with your sister and on Sundays it's wife swop day! :D

as far as I understood, the town needs to prosper, so I had the distinct impression that residents are expected to contribute in some way or other...i.e. they didnt quite sit well with the idea of a foreigner owning property there for twice a year holiday use. I was tinkering with the idea of a nice holidayhome in the middle of absolutely nowhere, as far form civilization as possible, but still with some mod cons... with good weather and sunshine..and that is how I stumbled upon this place.

Im pretty sure thats a requirement. If you look at the post werner makes he mentions the hoohaah made about an unmarried woman been at the house of a man... in the evening! (mufasa!). hehe. Let us know what those requirements are :D
 
Il concider moving there if they have cheap high speed uncapped internet?

But that might just be the reason that place is not growing at what it could. They don't want me to push my hard earned money into their system......

Now that is sad :(

Maybe I'll just have to buy a part of land from a farmer in the Karoo to set a house on. At least I know fk all ever happens in the karoo so that should be asfe also :D
