For that reason, blockchain—banal, technical, deeply unsexy—has become an ideological rallying point, especially among those looking to subvert the reigning order. From Catalonia to Venezuela, dissenting groups have at times wondered whether, their options for a political uncoupling exhausted, they could settle for a digital one instead.

Was this posted before? I didn't see it, but it's quite interesting..

I adore this photo, like how eve thing is in my favorite language.

I saw the heading for the article initially, and didn't even think of orania - cause crypto, why would orania be involved in crypto... Then I saw the pic and did a double take.

I'm wondering the same thing, see its a long article so I'll read though it later, just had a look at all the pictures, nice neat CLEAN and safe looking town that, very tempting.

I never knew Dawie Roodt was a complete right wing nutcase.

Now I'll disregard his opinions even more in future.

I read the article. What in your opinion makes any of what he said right-wing? Care to quote?

Funny that whenever one cultural group wants their own piece of South Africa(bought and paid for legally) it is called right wing however the majority ruling cultural in South Africa is claiming the entire South Africa for them self as their right.

So the latter is absolutely fine but if a minority group wants to create some sort of safe living area for themself then its is far right criminal xenophobic racist behaviour.

This is no different than the Palestine/Israel issue. Both sides are actually within the same country yet they do not operate well with each other and a good reason why they should have their own independent countries to govern. Integration is a pointless idea, the safest long term solution is having a proper split and allowing each side of the spectrum to determine their own future. We are currently stuck in a similar spiral in SA except we have more than just 2 cultures bumping heads in South Africa so the idea of completely integrating everyone within the same vision is the most pointless waste of time and money imaginable.

Some people just need to get their heads out of their collective asses.

I think most of peoples intolerance comes from vastly different cultures (not so much race) - which dictates how you behave, your customs, habits, beliefs etc.

I have 2 westernised Asian friends who cannot tolerate some of the cultural habits of their native people - they have become accustomed to a western type of lifestyle.

So I can understand the appeal of a town like Orania - birds of a feather. It appears that people follow the rules, don't litter, steal etc.

Of coarse if it was a precursor for some kind of AWB ultra right-wing mobilisation then that could be come a problem, as that is usually fueled by ulterior motives.

It's not clear to me from the article that he's right-wing, moreover I suggest that you assess his opinions on their merit instead of dismissing them out of hand because you regard him as a right-winger.

Oh you definately hit the nail on the head there. Nuff said.

Behavior, mannerisms, things people say, its very infuriating when you see something not done the way you think is right or when people do things you deem grossly wrong, like whilst typing this response my colleagues engage in blasphemy, I'm not even religious but I know you don't do that, never, they however have the opposite view of it, I accept it and don't complain but it still annoys me. Now imagine a thousand instances of little things like that you don't like, not to mention all the other difficulties that occur, of course you'll want to be around those the same as you, I see nothing wrong with that or necessarily with trying to keep those around you those who you prefer.

Just one thing I want to add.

The danger of being surrounded by people just like you is that you lose your ability to influence other people that need your influence - now I mean in a positive way, not impose anything on someone i.e. treat a woman with respect by observing how you treat woman etc.

Some might not agree, but it is everyone's responsibility to build a peaceful society, even if it means you teach someone something or even get taught something yourself.

So nothing to backup your claim other than hurt fee-fee's?

Cool, you do you.

I think you should educate yourself a bit before jumping to conclusions.

Much easier than I expected to sift out all the Afrikaner, Orania supporters in this thread.

Well if thats how you want to play it then it was even easier to identify the liberal SJW snowflake in you.

You have ZERO argument except butthurt words typed out on your cheesypuff keyboard.

Based on your feedback we can all conclude that you agree SA belongs to the natives and the afrikaner culture must just run away or die. Based on that I now also understand that you are a full blown racist. If you refuse to have a solid argument then I will also just decide what I think of you based on your response about something so mundane.

You are damn right I do support Orania as much as I would also support any other group who wishes to lay out the money, buy property and develop it with the goal to protect their culture. The fact this was done by Afrikaners does not mean I would not support it some Zulu,Xhosa group of people did it but lets face facts they already have their culture protected in the biggest landmass in Southern Africa namely South Africa.

Act just a little mature and argue your point and you will find people will actually consider it and respond to the argument rather than your own tantrum fatfingering.

Dude, it's an article about crypto.
People can hate his racist bs whilst still agreeing with some other things he says.
