ORB ISP FEEDBACK

@ryu
Your accounts port has been reset, as per our telephonic conversation please let me know if there is any more issues.

Hi Milomak,

As previously mentioned, OrbISP is a reseller of TRL Technologies.

1. You do get a rebate on your adsl line rental and by transferring your line to us we are able to better assist you when you require technical support as we have are able to reset your port etc. without contacting Telkom - saving you time, money and frustration.

As I mentioned earlier, I am using openweb gold uncapped and they seem to be able to do things like resetting my port without having my line.

2. Should you ever wish to cancel, your line is transferred back to Telkom within 4 to 6 working days.

3. For some reason a large amount of users are under the impression that they won't have internet access when a line is transferred back to Telkom / or to the ISP.
This is not true. There are NO downtime whatsoever.

The point arises in that i think some of us have seen posts where a line was to be transferred back to Telkom and then it emerged that the user who previously had DSL was told that there are no more ports available on their exchange. I am not sure how that happens but certainly there have been stories like that on here.

4. There may not be evidence for this but the speed of our uncapped accounts do outperform most competitor offerings in the market, especially IS-based uncapped accounts.

that maybe the cybersmart network being better (if the speed thing is true). but again i am not convinced that is because you happen to hold the line account.

No, the business model is not based on line rental. It's a win-win situation when you transfer your line to us as you get a rebate on the monthly line rental as well as better support should you ever experience a problem.

You can still use other ISP accounts after your line has been transferred - you are not locked-in in any way.

So in short, we don't offer uncapped services without your line being transferred to us. This is just how our uncapped offerings have been designed.

I trust that this post would answer all your questions regarding the line transfers.

Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions ;)

thank you for answering. but i am not convinced unfortunately. perhaps over time feedback in this thread will sway me.

my belief is that you could price a package where i don't have to transfer the line, the problem i suppose is that it would show the margin you are making by having the line with yourselves.
