Hi guys, can you please give me your input on the following setup I'm about to purchase. It will only be used for games and movies/series.

CPU - Intel Core2Duo 2.66GHz (E6750) (1333fsb)

Motherboard - Asus P5K Motherboard (Supports 1333fsb and DDR2-1066 - P35 + iCH9 Chipsets)

RAM - 2X1GB Kingston HyperXDDR2-800 Ultra Low Latency RAM (2.35V)

Graphics - Asus EAH2600XT D4/HTDi/256M , DDR4 , support native crossfire , built-in HDMi codec+5.1 audio , support DirectX 10.0 , HDCP Compliant ( for HD DVD, Blu-Ray Disc at full HD resolutions ) , pci-e x16 , HD2600XT chipset , 256mb 128bit DDR4 , 120 stream processors ( pixel shader engine + vertex pipelines ) , core/memory : 800/2200mhz , dual dvi ( with dvi to d-sub + dvi to HDMi converter ) , HDTV-out - retail pack

LCD - LG 1900E , fantasy series Eclipse with piano black mirror finish , 19" , with f Engine , .29mm , 1280x1024 , brightness - 300cd/m2 ; DFC contrast ratio - 2000:1 , response time - 4ms (GTG) - DVi only

DVD ReWriter - ASUS - SATA, Lightscribe

Hard drive - Western Digital 320GB 7200rpm - SATA2 16mb Cache

Case - Antec Sonata 3 includes 500W PSU

Was thinking of getting the ACER 22" wide LCD for an extra R400 but the image quality on the LG seems better.

Do you think the 2600XT is a good choice with the DDR4, DX10 and 800/2200MHz? I cannot afford to spend more to get the 8800 nVidia or the 2900 Radeon.

What are your thoughts on the DDR2-800 Ultra Low Latency over DDR2-1066?

Thanks a million!

how is the 2600 tasty?

plz your putting together a top end pc with a crap vga card

a gaming rig require's no less than an 8800gts 320 vanila or gtx
even 2900xt would be better

rather spend less on the cpu get like an e6320 get cheaper ram than buy a 2600 if possible man

your rig is tasy like supersun in a orange thong but its seriously lacking in the vga department

my advice is drop your cpu lower get cheaper memory and rather save up for 8800 gts 320 which is only 3k

Yep, killa's pretty much got the answer for you, that CPU is useless, same with the expensive gaming ram.

Get normal RAM to save a few hundred and drop the CPU down a bit to get yourself 8800GTS.

You'll be kicking yourself if you don't. The 2600XT's look good on paper, but they don't perform at all... they are particularly good in DX10 titles though, but still too underpowered for that to help.

Man ,I just gave it a quick gander and I mised what card he had, at least im not telling people to buy PD 945s instead of E2160s like that other guy did...

The E6750 is only R1800, so that is a nice CPU, but he could get a E6550 for R1500, also the RAM could be normal DDR2 800 Kingston Value RAM and then you can have that 8800GTS 320...

Get cheaper CPU (e6420), RAM & Smaller HDD & get a 8800GTS. All these new midrange cards are ****.

Cool, thanks guys! I've decided to bite the bullet and keep the same setup above but replace the graphics card with the 8800GTS320!!!

Is it a respectable gaming PC now? (Not getting a SLI motherboard cause I won't ever use it)

Can you please help me decide between:

and 1 of these setups are priced at ?

Blu-ray  for gaming

But appart from that looks good - Get some cheap ram ;)

Go XFX XXX as I assume you don't overclock, and thats the fastest card as it's factory clocked.

If You do overclock, You void the warranty on the XFX cards, I don't know about Asus though, But the Asus cards Do Seem to overclock WAY better then most of the other cards. But Maybe look for a Foxconn Overclocked 8800gts 320mb as it's got the best bang for the buck and it includes a game controller(Like a playstation control) which is pretty cool

dude buy the cheapest 8800gts they all the same cept the xxx which you can do yourself

not true scotty, it is near impossible for the card guys to claim u have overclocked it

killer rig der lad.. u gonna smaak it :D

If u into overclocking u can squeeze even more out of your cpu very very easliy:D

Thanks everyone! Gonna go for the Asus as it has 2 games with it :) unless Supersunbird can help me with better prices (8800GTX?)

Just seen on XFX's website that the core clock on the 8800GTS XXX is 580MHz compared to the ASUS's 500MHz, so going for the XFX 8800GTS XXX! :D

Well you can clock the Asus one up to 580 yourself, probably higher. But the Asus is more expensive, so if you want safe overclocking the XXX isn't bad.

where do you guys get the money for all this,Is it on credit or do you buy these things cash.I upgrade my gaming pc every 2 years,I look at that guys specs and i start crying.Well the fastest video card ever made and tough is the 6800gt i think,This has a value of 2500 rand,Experts like you all know this.
